So good news and bad news for our family.

Good news: We have been waiting to adopt a baby for a few months and go a huge surprise last week when a 4 day old baby was placed in our home. We are thrilled about our new son and he is a true joy.

Bad news: We are going to have to cancel our cruise for next month. Obviously, this is not that big of a deal in light of adding another member to our family, but we are still sad not to get to go.

I wondered if any one has any experience actually using their trip insurance. I think we bought through Aon. Any tips or what to expect would be great.

We live in Houston and are sailing out of Galveston, so we didn't have any other expenses except our cruise fare. Thanks for the help.

I'm with the previous poster, no experience with insurance but CONGRATULATIONS!! You can now look forward to taking you new little one on a cruise!!! What a pleasant surprise.

Congratulations on the addition. I do not know about that particular brand. We use Travel Guard and they have always been phenomenal. The sooner the claim, the better.

Congratulations on the new baby. My concern is that adopting a baby isn't going to be a covered reason for canceling, unless you have cancel for any reason coverage. Hope it works out for you.

First, Congratulations. The first time I've heard of a cruise being cancelled for such good news.

I believe Aon is the carrier that DCL uses, so if you purchased through DCL, start by calling the number that's listed in the cruise contract. They can walk you through the claims process. The one time we had to cancel a cruise, they were very helpful in getting everything lined up.

Oh my god, congratulations!!!

(I hope your insurance is going to work out... )

Isn't it possible to change the dates of your cruise?

Keep us updated.

Yeah I don't think it's going to be covered under a main parts of the insurance, but we'll see. Hopefully it falls under the cancel for any reason and get 75% toward a future cruise. We still want to take one, but ideally it would be out of Galveston so we have to wait until next year.

I have used my trip insurance (not for a cancellation, tho'). I started by calling the contact number supplied with the documentation and asking what I needed to do. They gave me a specific list of things I needed for documentation of the claim and what to do with all of it. My experience was good. Hope yours is. too. Congrats on the new little guy in your family!
