We are a family of 5 (kids will be 10, 8, and 6) and are planning a trip to France in August, 2014. The primary purpose of the trip is to visit my brother and his family. He lives in London but has a holiday home in the region of the Lot River (not far from Cahors). The current plan is to leave NY on August 15th and arrive in Paris the morning of the 16th (Saturday). We will rent an apartment in Paris. I'm thinking 3-4 days in Paris will be enough for our kids (I have been to Paris a few times and could spend weeks there). We're considering spending one night in Disneyland Paris. My children have been to Disney World at least a dozen times.

1. Where is the best place for a family of 5 to stay at DLP?

I'm thinking we will then rent a car.

2. Is there a rental car place at or near DLP that is recommended?

It will be about a 6 hour drive from DLP to my brother's house. We will then spend about 4 days at my brother's house.

3. Is my timeline about right?

Thanks for any advice. I bought a guidebook on DLP and Paris with kids but I'm not finding it super helpful. I can navigate Paris on my own but have never been to Europe with children and I've never been to DLP. Any starting advice would be appreciated!

Cheers!

If you want to all be in one room your options are Disneyland Hotel, Newport Bay, Santa Fe, or Explorers or you could pick up your car early and stay at Davy Crockett Ranch although I think that's probably a bit far out for one night. I'm afraid I can't help with car rental. hopefully someone else can.

Have I missed something, a family of five, not sure than any hotel apart from the DCR or one of the DH can accommodate five in one room?

I'd imagine if your were to book car hire online you could pay to have it delivered to your choice of hotel, obviously a dearer option than picking it up but an option considering your trip.
