Hello Everyone

I am off to Florida in May for our 5'th trip and I am looking for a new digital camera. Firstly, my knowledge on digital cameras is very limited aswell as my experiance. I'm hoping to buy one as soon as possible and really, looking for suggestions. I dont tend to ask such big questions but after browsing several review sites, I am still very confused. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help. I am looking for a camera in the price range of 200-300 great british pounds, this is around 600-700 usa dollars, although I know electronics are cheaper in america. A stylish and compact camera is what I am after, much like the "Canon PowerShot SD700 IS", but do not want a bulky camera such as "Canon EOS 30D". If you do suggest a camera and have screenshots or pictures, that would also be a big help.

Many Thanks

Shane

Update: After several more hours of searching I beleive the "Canon PowerShot S80", "Canon PowerShot A610" and "Nikon Coolpix 7900" seem to be the best cameras for me in my situation... Any ideas?

Shane do you have a jessops store by you? If you go in and talk to someone tell them what you are looking for they will help and let you handle the camera before you buy one you don't have to buy it from them but they are very good at advise.

how about this? :teeth:

The 610, or should the budget permits, 620 will be okay. But only with a dRebel (minimum) you can get very clean ISO800 and ISO1600

All taken at ISO 1600 using dRebel.

PS: a digital Rebel, body only (no grip, no cable shutter release, only battery/body/manuals/charger) in mint condition usually runs around US$523 (as per eBay statistics).

Kelly, those are great pictures at 800 and 1600. If I want to take lowlight shots like that do I just put the XT on Pmode and set it to 800 or 1600? Thanks

They were all taken using ISO 1600, actually. (at least for the last 3 pictures I know for absolutely sure).

If you want to take lowlight pics like that, just put the dSLR on P mode, set ISO to 800 or 1600 accordingly.

Infact, I have around 6-7 maybe more jessops near me, will be sure to go in and ask! thanks :thumbsup2
