I've received a great surprise, my boss wants me to attend a conference at the Dolphin in a few weeks. I'm a BW owner and and a Disney addict like so many here. I'll be traveling alone, without wife and kids. I love the Luna pool. Who wants to sit at the Grotto pool when I can hang at my "own pool." Just lay out in a chair, have a beer, read the paper, all the things I can't do because I'm usually watching and playing with the kids. (I am going with the family for 9 nights in July). I know that since I 'm not staying at the resort, I'm technically not allowed to use the pool. Anyway, I'll have my laptop and I'll post any interesting happenings while I'm there. I'll be going May 10-14, let me know if there's anything specific you want me to check out and report back on.

;) How about a report on how busy/crowded Luna Park is while you are there? You could tell us if you notice any pool crashers, if it was hard to find an empty chair, if the CMs are checking IDs or handing out wristbands. :) :) LOL! Have a good time!

TheWho,

if you are going for the Acord Conference maybe (if I end up going) I will run into you ;) oops guess not I just saw you listed the dates (re read you post) and those dates are diffferent ones. oh well.

I am looking forward to the conferrence as I went two years ago and it was a good one. it was at the contempory then, we ended up playing minigolf at Fantasia gardens each night.

Later,

Mike

ZZZZZinggggg!!!

That was a good one CarolMN. And plenty of smilies to take the sting out of the zinger! :) :)

Thanks CarolMN, I didn't realize the zinger until Granny pointed it out. Now I really have to crash, just to post how the scene is. If I get caught, I'll just say I'm doing a public service for the DIS.

Captain Midnight, I'm sure the Grotto pool is great. I'll probably hang out there. I just rather hang out with DVC people than conference people. I was actually thinking of hanging out at the BW quiet pool, since I never do ( having the two little kids).

Haven't been to the grotto pool for several years, but we loved it! The best part was there was an adults section and a family section and it was so peaceful at the adults end. And the palm trees were a nice touch.

The conference is actually having a special night at AK. (after closing ) I'm looking forward to that. I'm actually traveling with co-workers who only complain about how hot it's going to be.
Little do they know, I go to BW every July. I'm looking forward to the "cooler" May timeframe.
I guess I'll spend most of my time touring the parks solo. I'm going to try some serious commando park touring. My plan is to check out the new Dino stuff at AK, ride RR at MGM (never done that, kids to small) and eat everything at Epcot. Maybe the behind the scenes tour at MK might be good for me to do. Anyway, I wish I was traveling with a fellow Disney nut.

Couldn't resist - hope you weren't offended. I really do hope you have a great time. You might find that touring solo every now and then is actually fun. Nothing like doing what YOU want to do WHEN YOU want to do it. Let us know how it went when you get back. :)

As a fellow BWV owner I would like a report on the status of the renovations...When will they be done? Are they on schedule, ahead, behind? (Gong in mid Jan 2003 Std view- will they be done yet?)

Hey Mike, my husband is going to the Acord conference. We went last year and stayed at the Dolphin. We are driving this year so we decided to stay at WL instead. By the way, we really liked the Grotto pool. I found it much more relaxing than the pool at BWV or SAB. I'm a bit nervous about the pool at WL. Hope that it isn't totally crowded and noisey. Maybe the pool by the villas will be a bit more relaxing.

Hmm... Getting back to the original question, at least one other owner here on the DIS was asked to leave when they weren't staying on points during their vist :( so I guess I'd say it's quite a risk...

BUT, we went to a conference at the Dolphin right after BW opened, and we decided to stay at the BWV's instead of the Dolphin... find out if the conference has any of the BW rooms at the lower price.... if not, can you use points & get money back from the company? My DH's company did that, if you had your own accomodation they just paid you a cash stipend... I agree about Luna Park vs. the Grotto by the way! It really sounds like you'll have a good time, please report back your findings!

Chris,
Good suggestion. Unfortunately, my company's travel reimbursement situation is a little complicated. The Dolphin is giving a conference rate of $199. I would love to stay at a BW studio. With NO disrespect to the Dolphin, it's going to be strange staying there and not at my 2nd home. I'm sure the Dolphin is fantastic.

I know I'll be at the BW bakery every morning to have a coffee and danish.

Hi Dave,

Have you asked to see if the other EPCOT resorts are also offering the conference rate of 199? I know when I went to the conference, the conference rate was available at the Swan/Dolphin/BWI/YC, so we had plenty of choices!! I'd say that either way you will definitely have a good time, I know I did!!!

I understand how you feel. It's hard to go "home" and not "stay" at your home. No one is going to bother you by the quiet pool. I say go, relax, enjoy and have a cold one for me:D

Do the Grotto Pool.

It may be the only time you allow yourself the opportunity to go there. I've looked at it from a distance & thought I'd like to hang out there for a day. It looks beautiful & I haven't seen anything that looks like it at a disney hotel.

And this has the added bouquet of forbidden fruit on the pool hopping list.
