We are planning our trip to Disney for the week of Sept. 18. My DH said this morning he wanted to go to Cocoa Beach for the day! Could you awesome people help me with this plan? Here are some of my questions...
How much does it cost in toll fees? How much is parking? How long does it take to get there? We are only planning a few hours there. We have a 11 year old DS and is a very picky eater. Is there fast food there?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Are you planning on going to the Kennedy Space Center or just for the beach?

Yes there is fast food. There is a McD's close to the port as well as a pizza place that I am blanking on the name.

Tolls from Disney are roughly $5. If you are coming or going to the airport, there is only one toll and I think it is $1.50. I have a sunpass so don't remember exactly.

On the Cruise boards lots of people will know the answers to specific questions about touring the area. Shirley is very knowledgable. She works at a local florist and delivers baskets to dcl. She can give the local perspective. (I think her business is A Perfect Gift.). I lived about 25 minutes south so don't know Cocoa as well as frequent visitors or local experts.

It is a fun area. I liked the beach at Jetty Park and "visiting" the departing ships.

Are there roads that are not toll??? Is the tolls the same going back? I am not being cheap I just want to make sure I have change for this. I have been on a toll road in Tx and not having the change. Well they billed me for it and it cost alot more

Thanks I will check the Cruise boards.

They won't bill you for it. Except for some exits that are coin only, all tolls on the actual expressway accept bills and make change. If you have a toll violation, they will mail it to yo, but usually it is a warning. I have had my transponder malfunction and they just send me a note but never debit my account.

Anyway...192 west from Kissimmee will take you to 95 or US1 or A1A. All will take you north towards Cocoa.

State rd 50 from titusville goes to Orlando. I think t does eventually meet with Semoran and Semoran will take you to the airport.

Both 192 and 50 are toll free, but they will add to your commute and cost you a little more gas. Probably not as much as what you save in tolls though. And the trip is a little longer time wise.

KSC is a pricy ticketed attraction. It may not be the best use of only a few hours. I would want to ht most if not all of everything for the ticket price. The bus tour that is included with admission can take over 2 hours alone. Very cool to go to, but if you don't have at least 5-6 hours to hit the highlights, you won't get your money's worth.

I think we will go there also! Sounds fun...

You will need to plan a FULL day there then. If you do the "good" tour which takes you behind the scenes, plan on at least 4 hours there (it's worth it if you are at all interested in space flight). We added a few days on the back side of our Disney trip to spend at Cocoa Beach. The beach itself isn't anything great, same sand as we have on the beaches here, but the ocean is fun.

I think we will take the toll roads...We only are gonna be there for a few hours. I think we have decided NOT to go to KSC. Seems like we have a lot to get done this trip. Thanks for all your help.:cool1:
