I am so excited to go back to WDW!! I didn't put in any building requests nor did I pay for a preffered room. What I am wondering is, can I wait to see what room I am assigned and find out how far away it is, then see if I can pay for a preffered room if one is available?? Has anyone ever had luck with this? I am traveling with my DMIL, and she has trouble walking long distances. I realize that most of the buildings are near a bus stop, but it would be nice (of course) to just be assigned a room that has a good location to the food court and main pool...
What do you think? Do you think that CBR will be too crowded to change my room assignment upon check in? Should I just call and change my reservation to a preffered room now?? Or see what I get first??
Thanks for any advice!!

If you are worried about walking too much I would call now. The resorts are pretty full.

You can always wait until check in and attempt to upgrade then. Jamaica and Aruba are a short walk across the bridge from the main pool and food court.

Thanks!

I just called, and yup, all the preffered rooms are gone! I guess I decided waaaay too late to try to upgrade. Do you think I'll have any luck at check-in, or do most folks keep their reservations?:confused3 I added a request for Jamaica and Aruba so I guess that is the best I can do at this point. Thanks for your advice!

I thought resort capacity would be less since it is still in "value" season. OOOPS!

Should I gear myself up for crowds?

When you check in you can see if you can get the closest room to the food court. It may not be preferred but maybe they can get you the closest to preferred. The CM's have some ability to move things around even if the resort is full. At CSR in October we were originally assigned a room nowhere near our request but there were rooms ready there at the time. We could get where we wanted but had to wait a couple hours for the room to be ready but that was OK.

There is an internal bus that runs around the resosrt. So that is very nice. If you are renting a car, you park near your room and can then drive to the main area.

As far as getting a specific area at check in, its a crapshoot. You may have some choices, you may not. It just depends on when you check in and whats available.

But one thing is certain, the internal bus runs constantly and might be a lifesaver for you! The cm's are always happy to go over what, if any options they have as far as room locations. Good luck, we were there this time a year ago (checked in on the 14th), its a beautiful resort, you will love it!

If you can't get a preferred location, ask for a room close to a bus stop. We were in Trinidad South so we felt out of the loop. Fortunately, we weren't that far from the bus stop and we just hopped on the bus and could go to the main building very easily.

I would suggest checking in fairly early (if your transportation allows) and asking for your preference at that time. Our experience is that the front desk will try to accommodate your preferences as well as they can, but the later you check in, the less wiggle room they have to accommodate you.
