DS 21 and I are doing a min trip to LA/Hollywood and then Disneyland and CA adventure not this coming week, but the week after.

I understand that for California Adventure we can try to collect a World of Color fastpass, and in fact the little mini custom touring plan that I put together using the Unofficial Guide people's software has me picking up one of these a little after 11 a.m.

How does that work? It looks like after getting the FP, that I show up sometime after 7:15 p.m. for the 8:15 p.m. show. Does this just get me over to a particular viewing area?

Yes, I would pick it up early if you can, just in case. They can run out of FP. I would also show up at least an hour early to find a decent spot. If you can swing it, I HIGHLY suggest the WOC Dessert Party - even the dining packages have you standing for the show. I've done the Dessert Party twice and I am always immensely grateful for that seat after a long day of charging through the park. You don't have to show up early, because your table is reserved. It's pricey, but I think the WOC show is AMAZING and the seat is priceless!!

How much is the dessert package and how soon do you need to reserve it? Same day? A week before?

MacMama0930 -- Wow -- So you actually get a seat at the desert party. My 56 year old legs would appreciate it for sure and DS 21 although doing great with all the personal training etc. he does, (some frayed / destroyed cartilage in one knee) -- would be worthwhile for him to have the seat too. $79 pp though is really pricey, and I try to stay away from sweets, so probably wouldn't eat anything. I have to decide if I want to do that or if I just want to do my typical find my spot and sit on the ground till the show starts. I looked and they do have availability. It does sound fabulous, but my bean counter personality will probably have me just sitting on the ground with my FP until the show starts lol.

We just have the two full days in the parks 10-9 and 10-8 which given that we usually just do attractions once and typically just headliners should give us plenty of time to just enjoy looking around a leisurely pace (enjoy the vibe of the place - both of us are big Disney park fans, but have only done WDW) and probably even time to go back to our motel to relax in the late afternoon or early evening and eat offsite. If we run out of things to do, we could walk around Downtown Disney too, I figure, so I did plan three nights and two full days in Anaheim to enjoy Disneyland. We're not planning to hit anything except for Disney with our limited Anaheim time. We've, for example, have gone to the Cedar Fair flagship park Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH numerous times, but Knotts is not on our itinerary. We will be spending some time in the LA/Hollywood area before heading down to Anaheim too FYI and are flying in and out of LAX. We'll have a rental car, but are just planning to have that parked at our motel the whole time we are in Anaheim, Staying at the Camelot Inn motel.

We saw WOC last week for the first time, and although it was beautiful, it will be our last. It just wasn't fun standing in a crowd to watch it, and I know DW will never be willing to invest the hour+ it would take to get a good place. Worst of all was holding my 60 pound daughter on my hip so she could see.

Do you mind if I jump in with a related question?? We've never done WOC before. If you do the fast pass and get there early to get a "good" viewing spot - are there any places that are better than others for viewing? I'm thinking maybe we'll just grab a late dinner and then sit and eat while waiting for the show.

From what I remember of the Legacy fastpass system at WDW, getting a Fastpass blocked you from getting another fastpass until the first fastpass' time period had lapsed.

Is this the case with the World of Color Fastpass? If I get a WOC Fastpass at 11am am I SOL on fastpasses for the rest of the day?

No, the WOC fastpass is disconnected from other FP.

I can definitely understand where you are coming from. DH would never do that either. Also, personally I wouldn't mind it a bit if I never went to a Disney nighttime spectacular again. But I am a sucker for enthusiasm and will gladly go with DS 21 who is super excited to see this. Last November, I sat on the curb for a 1/2 hour to get a good spot for the parade, and then again sat on concrete for our spot for Wishes at the Magic Kingdom at WDW. It was definitely not my favorite part of the day. But doing it with DS who is just so pleasant and fun to be with made it very tolerable, and as kids get older and have their own busy lives, that one on one time with your kids is just so special and so fun and is even cool sitting on concrete.

Note that having a FP only blocks you from getting another until the window opens on your previous one, or two hours after you pulled it, whichever is first. The time you can pull another is in small print at the bottom. So even if WOC weren't disconnected, you'd still have the ability to get more even though you haven't yet used the WOC one.
