ok im going to book two packages this week..the first one is for the dates of sept. 12-21..and the second package is sept 15-21..ok im booking these two rooms with the disney visa...i was going to book them without the dining option... so what im wanting to do is book my package without the dining and call and add it later if free dining is announced. should this be an issue?..also as long as im not within the 45 day window i can change my package or cancell it without paying any fees..right?.im also not buying the insurance..do you think that is stupid?..let me know..and yes were going wether free dining is offered or not..if i cant get the dinng promo then im sure somthing else will come along..i hope....thanks in advance

I'm one of those 56 people.

I didn't answer before because I'm not sure of what you're trying to accomplish-- why are you booking 2 overlapping sets of reservations? Is it that part of your group arrives later than the rest?

As to the rest, this is my first time in 19 years. I've learned a LOT, but nothing about free dining; we're teachers and school is in session in September. I would certainly imagine that you could add it on but don't know for sure.

As to the insurance: we ordered it. My father in law is not in the best of health and it seemed like a good idea for us. Whether or not your choice is "stupid" is something that only you can answer. What's the cancellation policy on the package you're planning to book?

Have you considered using a travel agent? AAA could probably get you a room discount until free dining comes out, so either way you would be saving from rack rate.

Why are you booking 2 pkgs?First, by booking now, that offers absolutely no advantage if what you are looking for is free dining.During the free dining Promo each resort has only a certain number of rooms alloted per day for the promo.Once that supply is gone, it is gone( unless someone cancels and then the room is put back into the system)I ffree dining becomes available, then you can try to add it ,might or might not be possible.I did the same thing last year, once free dining was announced , there was no availibilty at my resort choice.I had to cancel and rebook for a different resort. If you need to rebook, your deposits would trnasfer over without penalty.Travel insurance is a diffferent story.I book it.September is smack dab in the middle of hurricaine season. However, in your case if you booked now with travel insurance, and had to cancel and rebook, you would lose the money of your travel insurance. It would be dedcuted from your deposit. My advice, wiat a few more weeks then book. The free dining promo should be announced in 4 weeks or so.:goodvibes

My understanding is that you can wait until the final deposit is due to add the insurance. I booked through AAA and this is what I was told. That way, we had time to think about it. Ultimately, we decided to add the insurance. There is no way to know if you need it, but for my DW, it was a small price to pay for peace of mind and potentially saving a lot of $$$. She is a nurse and sees a lot of families cancel trips due to unexpected illnesses.

As far as when to book and making changes, I don't remember the exact policy. If you know you are going regardless, I'd say go ahead and book so you get what you want, but be prepared to be flexible if a promotion becomes available, as it may not be available at your chosen resort. Before you book, make sure you confirm about that $50 fee for making changes, it may be for any time, not just within 45 days. (In that case, you may be better off waiting a few weeks.)
