Ok so I have been calling RV rental places for days and found that they are asking too much for 14 days, im willing to pay dont get me wrong but woth all the add'l fees its crazy, I have only ever stayed at the campground, while that may have been 10 and 15 years ago I feel that I dont want to stay anywhere else. So here goes my question....... Is any one looking to have a vacant Rv for the first week of August, and willing to rent it out? We are from a small town near Reading Pa. If not I wouldnt be offened but it never hurts to ask, LOL I was considering making flyers and stopping at every house i could see with an Rv and asking if they were intrested. LOL Just thought Id ask. Thanks Tammy.. BTW we are only 2 adults and 2 kids with clean driving records and good insurance Tee hee

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Might be better off just getting a cabin at FW. On another forum a member posted a question asking if readers would let family members use their MH. The majority said no, so I would imagine that it would be the same percentage or even greater if the person asking was not a family member.

Good luck.

Have you ever thought about buying a small pop-up camper, sometimes you can come across them pretty cheap, we use to have an old cox camper about 20 years ago, we payed 300.00 for it ( boy that was alot of money to us) our kids were small and we were so broke, but my grown kids will tell you that it's some of the best times we ever had. I noticed you like to tent camp well this might be a good thing to look into. Most people have so much money tied up into their travel travels etc.. that they really wouldn't want to rent it out, to us ( I know we are not most people) but it is really our one and only luxury item we own.

I don't think it is an odd question. Three years ago my best friend and I rented a pop up from the Air Force Base (her hubby worked there) for $135.00 for the week. Neither one of us had ever towed anything before, but we made it down there with 9 of our kids and camped for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time and the kids had a blast. I have 6 kids of my own, so the only way I can afford multiple trips a year is to do it in my own camper. We bought one last November. I could not think of any other place I would stay besides Ft. Wilderness. Check your local military bases and see if they also rent pop ups. You may also check into purchasing a camper like one of the other posters mentioned, but be careful! We bought our travel trail just last November but are now putting it up for sale to buy a fifth wheel! The power of Ft. Wilderness just keeps sucking us back in!!! :earboy2: :earboy2:

Rentals on military bases are not available to the general public. Unless you or someone you know works there you cannot rent a trailer, boat or any other item from recreational services.

ever wonder why rv rental places ask for an arm and a leg? LOL prices range from not bad 750 a week to 3000 a week, im not looking for the lap of luxury LOL we are po' folk who have been trying to go to wdw for 8 years! LOL Wel Im still looking Im gonna get one, one way or another, Tam

Well you got my attention! But wait...before you resort to this tactic, have you tried RV places in Florida. Here is my thought. When you rent one in Pa, you drive it down and have a limited number of "free" miles which will most certainly be exceeded on the round trip. If you drive your own car (or fly) down and rent an RV you are saving those huge per mile costs and GAS! I venture to say that renting an RV in Florida is going to be cheaper...maybe so much so you won't have to trade for one.

Cruiseamerica.com has a place right in Kissimmee. According to the web an RV to sleep 4 is about $100 a day. Since there will be minimal miles involved you save on the 29 cent per mile fee. So 14 days is gonna cost about $1400.

Family forum people... Please keep it clean.

Had to laugh at your "Po Folk" comment, we must be kin, lol, we have been trying to get to disney since 2002, and we have a travel trailer, this year we are going , bought tickets last year, that's one expense behind us. Camping really is the best way to go, you can cook to save money, and for us and the way we eat boy what a savings. Good luck to you, sometimes planning is really half the fun.

RE: the cost of Disney:
We are now 3 generations of FL Disney goers.
When my family first started going to FT W the year it opened (I was a young tot) the 300 loop cost only $8 a night and when they introduced the rental Terry Trailors (which were the rentals instead of the cabins) they charged a whopping $49 a nite for them!

How times have changed! :charac2:

Tammy..... the money that you will be spending to rent a rv could be put towards the purchase of a nice used pop up trailer that you and your family can use all the time. ........I seriously doubt that you will find anyone that will rent you their trailer...no offense but I wouldnt even let my own sister use my camper if she asked

Hi Tammy,

If I remember, you are arriving during summer??

Value season at Ft Wilderness Cabins begins July 5th. The price with an AP is typically $144 at that time. You also get a full kitchen, grill and an airconditioner!

We once considered renting an RV to stay at Ft Wilderness, but it was much more expensive than staying in the cabins. - And we are only a 1 hour drive away!

Start crunching the numbers and see if this might be cheaper. It will certainly be more comfortable at that time of year! You still get to enjoy all the beauty and fun that the campground has to offer.
