Has anyone been to a dvc presentation while staying at disney, we are intersted about joining but wondered what happens at the presentation and if its worth going along. How long does it normally take and do you have to sign up there and then or could you join when you get back to the uk. :cool1:

Hi Gemma,

I bought from the UK without talking to a guide in WDW (I was assigned one when I rang and said I wanted to buy) as I had done lots of research from home.

There are DVC sales booths literally everwhere in WDW. Just approach someone on one of these and they'll arrange a visit for you to SSR (which is the property Disney are marketing at the moment) to tour and see a guide (salesperson). They will pick you up from anywhere in WDW and drop you off again afterwards.

I've no idea personally about the pressure side of things (not having done the tour) but everything I've heard is that it is very low pressure indeed.

HTH

PS If you are staying at a Disney resort there will be a sales booth there :)

Gemma

We took the tour when the DVC Sales office was on the Boardwalk. We went in one evening and booked up the next morning. They sent a DVC van to the CBR to pick us up and take us to the Boardwalk.

In the sales office we had some breakfast and then our meeting with our guide. I didn't feel under any pressure to sign up there and then, infact the plan was to take info away with us to consider. We were given some Taffy and Fast Passes and then the DVC van took us to the Magic Kingdom.

We decided to go back the same day and sign up though ;)

I'm another one who signed up by phone from the UK (oh yes, Disney can certainly make it easy to part with your cash! ;)) but I never felt under any pressure to sign up even after I'd made the first move and asked to speak to someone.

I'd love to take the tour some day even though we already belong to DVC but I never seem to have the time!

Hi there,

We booked our DVC tourback in 2000. I expected lots of pressure but nothing could be further from the truth. We met our guide he asked us the following questions.

Could we afford it?

Do we want it?

After 40 mins we knew we wanted it but, I was cautious and tried to find the catch as it was to good to be true. There's no catch.

Since we have had 3 friends buy in.

We bought by phone from home late 2000.

DVC is one of the few ( if only) low pressure timeshare sales. Actually I would say there is no pressure at all.

You can take as much, or as little time as you want. BUT IMHO if you want to get a good feel for the product you need to set aside a couple of hours. When we went round they had a creche to look after the kids, so they were happy and we could concentrate on the job at hand.

It's certainly a good idea to do as much research as you can before going, if you have the time you can call them fromt he UK and ask to be sent a DVC video ( specify you need it to be in UK format, I know that should be obvious to them as it's being posted to the UK, but sometimes the agents are not aware we have a different video format). That way you can go over some of the information at home, at your own pace. It will give the chance to formulate questions that are particular to your requirements.

Like Stephen, I thought it was too good to be true and spent quite a while looking for the catch, but that was in 1993 and I'm still looking for it LOL.

The only way to get a feel for the units is by going through the tour and walking through the units. The studio isn't hard to visualise, it's pretty much a standard hotel room size, but the larger units need to be seen.

If you're coinsidering a timeshare in the Orlando area, then IMHO the DVC tour is a must do, even if you decide not to sign up, for whatever reason, you can feel you've done so knowing all the facts.

We did the tour back in 1997 feeling very nervous, as we had heard so many stories about hard sell from timeshare agents. Not once during the tour did we feel under pressure and we left saying we would think about it (fully expecting the sales rep to make contact with us again during our stay). He never did. When we arrived home we thought that he might contact us to chase up the sale, but rather disappointingly he didn't.

The following year we went back and the first thing we did on arrival was walk into the sales centre and sign on the 'ears'.

7 years on we still think it’s the best thing we have ever done and only wish we had done it sooner.

Agree with all the comments.
We did the tour last year, no pressure, kids were in a play area with all the candy they could eat, for going on the tour we got a character meal.
Also, its not a presentation as such, they just show you the rooms and let you decide what you think. They then tell you about the cost etc and what you get for that.

No regrets having just come back from our first trip back to SSR. Also, going to Europe for 2 weeks in the summer through Interval Internation exchange.

Big questions relate to how often and affordable, is travelling to the US? and if you can go out of term time, makes a big difference on points and flight prices.

Take the tour, its worth it.

We bought over the telephone from home. They sent the DVD and all the info and called us back each time we made a call, so they were paying. There was no pressure at all. As yet we haven't been "home", though we're going in September, but our daughter and son have used the points. It's nice to be able to let them have use of it when we have other things planned - as we usually do!

We're thinking of going to look around SS in September - though I doubt we'll add on - we have so many other places we like to go to. :flower1:

We actually went on 2 seperate tours, the 1st was about 10 years ago when they were selling OKW resort, we loved it but realistically at the time we just couldn't afford to go ahead. Our 2nd tour was last year, ( we actually went out to look at buying a house, but everything had gone up so much in a short space of time we felt it was a bit of a goldrush & pulled out), we then looked at SSResort, wow, we just loved it & brought 600 points there & then. We were never pressurised at any time & actually our guide refused to take our money until the next day, when we completed,(only after viewing the suites again, they are breathtaking). We are looking forward to our 1st vacation club holiday in April, we are staying in 4 seperate luxury hotels + 1 week cruise over a three & a half week break. The other key factor is we can hand the points on to our children to use over the next 50 years, all they have to do is get their flights.
