We are heading to WDW in May. This time we decided to try the 1900 Fare for the kids Character dining. We have did the Hollywood & Dine Character Dining in Nov 09, and wanted to try somthing different. We couldn't get into Chef Mickey's for it was all booked already. We haven't been to this one yet, so I was looking to hear a few reviews so if it's bad we can change our mind. Our last experience was alright. The Characters were fun(not the ones we thought were going to be there) and the food was just ok. Our girls are ages 6 and 3. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!:cool1:

Are you eating dinner or breakfast at 1900 Park Fare? The characters are different, so we would need to know which one you have booked to give you appropriate feedback. :goodvibes

I can tell you about breakfast -- Oct. 2009. Food was buffet plus custom made omelets. Standard breakfast food but very good. I remember a variety of eggs, breakfast meats, chipped beef and sausage gravy, cereals, a make your own yogurt bar, breakfast breads, plus some special items like lobster eggs benedict and strawberry soup. (yes, a cool temp strawberry soup and it is Mary Poppins' favorite). And ice cream. Yes, ice cream for breakfast, why not?

Characters were Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Tigger and Pooh. We will go here at least once on our next trip. All characters were great and took their time. Mary Poppins will sing supercalifragilistic with you so learn the song.... and the Mad Hatter is a complete crazy fool (and loud!).

I'm even considering the dinner there even though we only have a boy - DS5, but we met the stepsisters last year and they were a riot of fun. Current characters are Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella.

We also like Ohana breakfast, Donald's Safari breakfast at Animal Kingdom, and Crystal Palace - all excellent character meals.

I really want to try Chef Mickey's on our next trip but nearly every review tells horrible stories about the quality of food, it being dirty, and birds flying around in there!

We ate there for dinner on our last trip. The characters are as the pp stated Cinderella, Prince Charming, the 2 stepsisters and the stepmother. About every 45mins Cinderella and Prince Charming have a dance in the center of the room and everyone can join.:dance3: Cinderella and Prince will even dance with a few people. Both my dd and ds enjoyed it. Mostly my DD. ;) The food was good. It's a buffet (which is not my favorite). It did have foods from around the world which were a little different than the other buffets in WDW. I think you can go to allears.net to see some items available. :surfweb: It's been a while since we ate there so I really can't remember the food other than it was ok. We will have breakfast here on our upcoming trip in 13 DAYS!!!

Referring to Chef Mickey, my kids LOVE it. We have eaten there on our arrival day for the last 3 trips and will eat there again in 13 DAYS!! It is also a buffet, which again it not MY favorite but the character are the BEST:woohoo: All the classic disney characters. The food is good and has something for everyone. I was clean and we have never seen birds flying around. Even when we stayed at the CR we didn't see or hear any birds flying around. It is loud and crazy but for kids, great. One of the main reasons my kids love it is the sundae bar they have.:rotfl: They get to put whatever toppings they want on their ice cream and they love it.

Thanks for the positive review.... I'd really like to give Chef M's a try. We were supposed to go for breakfast last trip but canceled due to a change in our park plans for that day. We would go for dinner this next trip.

I've been to Chef Mickey's a lot of times and never encountered any birds. I've never seen any live birds at indoor restaurants--except for the macaws at Rainforest Cafe. Outdoor counter service though...

We seriously disliked 1900 Park Fare for dinner, but our breakfast there was awesome. We've only been to Chef M's for dinner and it's always at least decent, but actually excellent a few times. :)

We literally just did both and liked them both. We did CM for breakfast and 1900 for dinner and both were favorites of ours. I would honestly put 1900 a bit higher on my like list just because it was a quieter, more relaxed meal. CM was a mad house at 9 am!

The characters at 1900 are a hoot. I loved the step-sisters!! They never broke character and they were so obnoxious (in a good way) that it was hilarious! They saw that our son was not into them and they were great with him. They posed around him so he was in our pictures but they just let him be.

The food was good. We left with full tummies and there was something for each of us that we really like. We plan to go back on our next trip and we can't say that about all of the place we ate on our trip.

We really hated CM for dinner, we're not picky eaters at all, used to all kind of different food, from all over the world, but there was nothing that tasted ok.

Park Fare however was amazing, food from different countries, fresh, hot and the beef was to die for.
Characters were wonderful, they came around several times.

We did 1900 for dinner last time. It was our favorite experience and the meal was great too! Loved the step sisters and step mother and the food was yummy. We went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and will not be going back. I don't care how coveted a reservation it is, the food was yuck and I just didn't care for the whole experience at all.

we did 1900 pf the last day of our trip in october. it was our anniversary dinner. the kids loved it. the food was yummy, altho i made the mistake of filling up on the yummy strawberry soup- sooooo good! as the pp's mentioned it ws cindy and the gang. the only issues we had was we werent in the main room, but what looked like an addition piece, so we couldnt see the dance. this didnt matter to my kids at all. not sure if you can request to be seated in the main part or not. we had to mention to our server that lady tremain skipped us 3 times, but they fixed us up. i had also ordered an anniversary cake for dh as a surprise.

quite a few people on here have said how bad cm's was...personally we loved it, but that being said this was our first time going to disney for the dinings. so maybe we missed a lot not going before when it was possibly better? i didnt find it that loud, altho we had the first sitting time for dinner. the two things i didnt like, the ice cream was very runny- think its so popular it doesnt have time to freeze before you turn it on. the other? the bathroom. it was all the waaaay acrosss the restaurant from where we were seated, and downstairs....my only reason i bring this up...i have colitis and when ya gotta go, it means yesterday is notfast enough!!! lol

as for birds inside restaurants: seen them in tonys and one other, i think it was cosmic rays, if not that it ws somewhere in tomorrow land, that was a qs place. sorry it was 5 or 6 years ago now.

I used to be a big fan of CM's, but no more. To the OP, for all the reasons you stated except for the birds. I have not seen any of those. I have been there many, many times. Hopefully, they will get back on track.

I love 1900 Park Fare. I have only been there for the dinner show. The evil stepmother and the stepsisters are soooo funny.:rotfl: The food at the buffet is pretty good, too. We have been several times. Even my grown DS likes it. I think he likes the attention. We always go for my birthday. Plus, I get to have my birthday cake from the GF bakery. I think theirs are the best cakes.

CM breakfast and both 1900 meals are favorites of ours!

CM is much busier but in a fun kind of semi-chaotic way. We like breakfast there a lot better than dinner

1900 - we've been going to dinner there every trip from the very beginning (first year had the mice since then the sisters). And enjoyed it every time! Prince Charming has my dd wrapped around his finger (she got to dance with him and he kissed her hand!)

We did breakfast for the first time on our last trip (Sept 2009) and really enjoyed it. As others have mentioned the Mad Hatter is a complete nut! Mary Poppins was great and Tigger and Pooh cracked us up!

Have fun!

We love CM, but we have seen birds flying around where the monorail comes in everytime we've been there. They don't swoop down into the resturant though, although I suppose droppings could............:upsidedow

Sorry for the hi-jack. I was wondering for those who've been to 1900 Park Fare recently.....did they still have the pasta station at dinner? It's just like the omlette station in the morning but for pasta??

We did dinner at 1900 in 2008. It was fantastic. The food was good. But, it was the stepsisters that made the whole experience so much fun. My DD7 had a great time. My DS5 still talks about how the stepsister asked him to dance. IT was so cute. The love looking at the pictures from that meal. :goodvibes

We were there last week and I did not notice it.

Thanks to everyone that has responded to my post. It's nice hearing from other couples and families that have been so you can get a unbias review. I think we will keep our reservations. The only other thing I was wondering was the cost. It's different from the travel book we have along with Disney's website, and the disboards. Thanks again. :thumbsup2
