So, I was really excited to get video of this when we went and I totally missed it. I knew when we went thru the wall but i didnt see the whole optical illusion thing and was really bummed. I went on you tube and saw other people getting video so i must of been standing in the wrong place or something. So, to help out other newbies, how do you get the video, where do you stand? We just walked thru a crooked wall and it was over, it was also very crowded that day, if that matters.

It's located when you are walking through the line to get to platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station (heading to Hogsmeade). You can stand back in line and let your family walk through illusion wall as you get the video or picture.

Yeah, you can hang back to see family go, like Robo said, but you can't get a shot of you yourself going through. You can see in the videos that the line goes around to the left around a pillar, you have to stay back before that point.

It's not so easy when it's busy.......you have to depend on kind folks hanging back while your family member films you as you go through. Most folks are happy to wait.

We've been lucky there's been hardly anyone around when we have taken video over the years.......think only once it was too busy so my husband didn't film me going through that day.

Like @schumigirl said it's hard to do it when it's busy. I think if it's that important for you to do that, go to Kings Cross first thing in the morning in order to achieve the shot. That way you would more likely be able to take all the time in the world to achieve the shot, or video you want without the anxiety of being in the way. In that case it's less likely people will come up behind, or in the case that people do come and pass you up, it won't be that big of a deal as you wouldn't really wait once you get there as I have a feeling it would be only a few people. Or if you do not want to ride it first thing, you can still go to that spot to get the shot and just walk back if you choose to ride later.

It does take some planning and a shame you can't get all in party in the shot.

Surprised U hasn't gotten on board with ride video type thing that WDW has via photo express, would work well there IMO.

We're home now, I just wanted to give a heads up to newbies going. Thanks for all the replies.
