Going Solo - How Do You Feel About It?

Would you ever take a trip solo?

I'm going on a solo trip in 85 days. I will be doing a couple of meets with people while I'm there but the majority of the time I will be solo. Looking forward to it!

I foresee that I will do it though..

I think it would be a blast to get up whenever I wanted and do whatever and eat whatever I wanted.. wont have to listen to anyone else.. I could take it easy and ride the rides as I wanted to and take tons of pictures!

I'd really like to know why some people voted crazy for anyone who does it. I go solo all the time and love it.

I would say no, but the reasons why don't fit me. I simply know that I always find things doubly enjoyable when I share them with someone I adore. I know that if I were at WDW alone I would have fun, but I'd be wishing the entire time that DH could be there...i.e. wistful enjoyment. As much as I like WDW, I'd rather wait to go or go somewhere else to assure I could vacation with DH.

That being said, if there were NO way someone else could come along, and say it were a free trip, I wouldn't have a problem going by myself. The only thing I'd want is a book to read while I'm eating.

I got back from my first solo trip a couple of weeks ago. Very relaxing.

I want to go solo so badly but have never been able to go since the kids need me to take care of them while DH is working.

A solo trip is my dream trip some day.

I think its crazy when people are in denial about the reasons they go solo or when they spend money on Disney they can't really afford or they afford by not improving their living situations.

About half of my WDW visits have been solo.

If I wait around for others to do what I want to do when everyone can do it, I very rarely do it!

WDW is a terrific place for solo visits!

Can you be more specific. I can't think of any reason anyone would go solo if they were truly uncomfortable being by themselves.

When I had my own apartment I would go out to eat by myself all the time, as well as go to movies and stuff like that by myself, so I knew I'd be fine by myself at Disney the first time I took a solo trip. I find it more enjoyable going solo, then going with family since they don't "get it," when it comes to Disney.

Also, a lot of people, my coworkers especially don't seem to "get" why I would ever want to go to Disney solo, especially once a year like I usually do, when there are so many other places to visit.

I have never gone solo and probably wouldn't, but I would have no problem spending some time on my own there. One day DH wants to run the marathon and when that time comes, while he is running I am going to the parks and enjoy myself.

I'd like to go with a group but go off solo for a little while. It'd be nice to just ride the things I want over and over again without rushing off to do something else.

On my last trip I went with my mom, and we seperated a few times to do our own things. Which is probably the only reason we both stayed sane that whole trip, LOL. Like when I attended a Sweet Sunday she went to a wine tasting, and when I went to DTD to do some shopping, she stayed in World Showcase, and when I went to MNSSHP, she made it an early night.

All but two of my trips have been solo. That said, most of my time there is spent with others from the board here, so not actually solo while there all that much. The times I am alone are great though.

That jab, which was entirely inappropriate, and off topic, was I believe, aimed at me, since I'm 24 and still live with my parents. Even though I spend less then $2,000 a year on vacation, which I can "afford" and is well within my budget.

I did MEMH solo once and it was a blast family was still sleeping Went to DHS did TOT 3 times RRC 3 times and walked out of the park before gates opend. That was fun then spent the rest of the day with the whole family 10 of us SIL and my family. I might do this again on this trip.

I would really love to meet some people from the DIS, maybe for a few rides or a meal, but I know I'd be so nervous if I ever do actually meet someone I "met online." Still, if any others are going to be in Disney in late Sep / early Oct, I wouldn't mind giving a meet a try.
