Which Disney do you prefer or think is best to do Solo - Disney World or Disneyland?

I've done the World solo and I had a blast, could I say it was the best way, that's hard as it was the best, but there were points that I wish I could "share" the fun with my family.

I've got 5 nights and 4 days to take a trip, and I'm thinking it will be to Disney, but which one? Going alone.

It's entirely up to you. Are you in the mood to try something different? I've only been to DL a couple of times and they were both 10+ years ago so I don't really know what to expect there anymore but I was at DW last year solo so I know what that's all about....

On the DW positives list I would put that it's really nice to be in the bubble and once I got there I didn't leave property. As a solo female traveler I felt really safe at all hours even if I was on my own. Not sure I would feel the same way at DL (but like I said, not been for years).

I agree with godders, as it really depends on which one you want to visit more. I've been to DL many times since I'm local, so I'd always pick DW over it any day of the week. And while I think safety isn't that much of an issue at DL, I'd probably feel safer in the DW bubble.

For me, it comes down to trip length. I would rather do a longer trip at WDW and shorter trip at DLR

I've been to both as a Solo. No problems with either. It depends on what you are wanting to see and how far you want to travel.

I had the same question I was tossing around as I have the ability to run a runDisney race and I was trying to decide between the marathon, which is in WDW, or Star Wars, which is at DL. It was a tough one because I really wanted to see DL for the 60th because some of those shows look awesome.

You could technically, if you can afford it, stay on Disney property at DL and be in the bubble there too. It really depends on you and what you want but the DL 60th would be very hard to pass up.

I personally decided to do the marathon and stick to WDW but that was more about the race, and the cost. I could stay at a nicer hotel at WDW for the same money as it would cost me to stay at Howard Johnson's at DL.

For me, it would be Disneyland. There are little bits and details left over from decades gone past that make it much more interesting to me, and I can also do all of the rides in two days, so it can be done in a much shorter trip. Plus, for me, WDW is about sharing the experience with someone.

Thanks so much for the input. I think its going to be the World again. Cost is really becoming the deciding factor.

Yeah, either is great solo or not, but WDW is cheaper, at least for me. I am thinking about going to DL for the 60th and to see Paint the Night, but a short solo trip (3 days) the cost is quite higher than WDW once you factor in the flight and hotel. If I lived closer to the West Coast it might be the other way around.

I grew up going to Disneyland and still live local so Disneyland will always be my favorite. With the exception of the 60th Diamond Celebration going on there is many more things to see and do at WDW.

Do both! (see my signature).
When I lived in the S.F. area, I would take short solo visits to Disneyland on business trips, or for long weekends. Now that I live ten miles away from the parks, I go about every other week. But for a solo vacation, I recommend WDW. I've taken 5 solo WDW vacations to WDW, and can't wait to go back in three weeks.

I voted for WDW, but it's reallyn not a strong preferrence. I've done both solo, and the only reason I slightly prefer WDW is the comfort in getting back to the resort. In WDW, I just get on a bus with other guests. But at DL, since I didn't feel comfortable walking back to my resort alone, I'd find another family and kind of tag along right behind them. It was just more comfortable at WDW.
