I am going on my first solo trip in December, I just decided to go this week. Is it necessary to make ADR's, or should I be able to wing it?

For those of you who have gone solo before, where do you like to go?

Thanks!

I would still make them. They don't have tables for one...so it wouldn't matter if you were traveling solo, or with another person. If you have your heart set on dining at certain places, then your best bet is to make the ADR. :goodvibes

I always wing it, but I don't mind eating at bars, lounges or counters (you can do really well eating at those - especially at many of the signature restaurants that serve the full menu there.)

If there is a restaurant you are particularly interested in, I would still make a reservation.

I think you should be absolutely fine winging it. The past few trips there have
only been two of us and we called the same day and asked what was available.
If there was something we were interested in, we grabbed it. We haven't had
a problem yet. We've enjoyed places that we might not have tried otherwise.
Some nice surprises!

i never bother with adr's when I go solo. I just wing it mind you I only 1 or 2 adr'ish meals other than those I eat counter service or not at all lol.. time is money.

I make ADRs for every meal where I want a certain restaurant. Even if you're solo you won't be able to just walk up to a popular restaurant and get seated.

I totally agree. You can always cancel them if you change your mind. I've had virtually no success with walkups on my four solo trips.

Be flexible and wing it! Remember, he who travels fastest travels alone (and that goes double for she). Flexibility and a sense of adventure is a sure way to ensure a good time.

I don't make many ADR's for my solo trips. I was there for two weeks in September, during free dining, and still managed a handful of walk ins. But I always have a back up plan, just in case I'm turned away. For my trip next January, I have booked three ADR's for lunch at my favorite Epcot restaurants, but that's all. You just have to be very flexible.

One thing you will find as a solo, particularly if you are used to traveling with several people, is it can be more difficult to find a table at times in the CS restaurants. People get so used to someone saving a table while they go order, that the first couple times you exit the food line and realize there's not an empty table in sight can be daunting. I have been known to take my tray to a park bench if all else fails, and just enjoy dining wherever. Of course, this depends a lot on how crowded the parks are. I didn't have any problems in September, and I'm not anticipating too much of a problem in January.
