Going Outside My Comfort Zone

That's a really cool story about your friend! She has an awesome career!

So cool to hear the back story on your friend Stacy! :cool1: And I love the hook-up to the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. I guess that puts me now squarely into the uber-cool THREE degrees of Kevin Bacon group! :cool2:

Sounds like you and Stacy have the plans all worked out. I've heard that Venice Beach was a cool place to visit and I look forward to seeing all of your pictures. Speaking of Stacy, there's no way that I can let Hunter know that you know somebody in the film industry. The boy wants to be a movie star (not like just a kid who says that but is actually serious about it). He's be hitting you up to put in a good word for him. :cool1:

Skip still hasn't decided what to do?

Oh Wow! Stacy definitely has a cool career! I love playing 6 degrees of separation! I found mine to Jennifer Aniston and got really excited lol. Venice Beach is very nice! I think you will really enjoy it! Manhattan Beach is also very nice, but I think Venice is more exciting.

She does. She said the first time Arnold Schwarzenegger called and asked to talk to Paul she was a little star struck. But then she got used to it pretty fast and now she sees stars at local hang outs all the time and it's no big deal.

You sure are!!!!!

Thats funny. She really wants to be in the writing side of things and so she concentrates on that now.

I am also closely linked to Katie Holmes too. I went to High school with her sister. We were friends, but not close friends. I did go to their house once, but I don't remember much about it and they sold that house after katie became famous as people were bothering them.. Katie used to come to events all the time but she was just a little kid then. Also my Uncle Geoff (who went on the cruise with us)...his sister is best friends since high school with Katie's mom.

WOW Stacy has some career. Great that you have a friend you can just pick up with and spend the day in her world. :thumbsup2

I don't think it is all as exciting as it sounds. I know when they have shot movies its long hours and not always great conditions. But she is living her dream!

Hollow Man was on yesterday and I immediately thought of your friend. What a coincidence that you were just posting about her and it came on.

I am such a slacker here, but really I have been busy with work and home life.

I have been working on my trips a bit as well.
I was happy to have found a decent priced rental for the March trip. Originally I had booked last fall and got a fantastic rate with Firefly, but when we added days to the trip, I went in to modify it, keeping my rate code, but it more than doubled in price to add 4 days. Um, no thank you.
So I have been looking on and off and finally booked a decent price with Hertz. Then yesterday I went in and found it about $40 cheaper and changed the booking. Today I found it $100 cheaper through Dollar and I went with that. And though Dollar is not high on my list for customer service. I can handle it for $100 savings. And the price actually came to less than $10 more than my original great rate I has in the fall with Firefly...and I added 4 more days.
I am pretty happy about that and will just be on my toes at check in.
Next, Skip and I (and Claire) talked about the trip a bit this afternoon and I think we will be booking the next part (cruise, after cruise hotel, and flights home) on Friday...or in the next few days.
He told me he knows he will NOT enjoy the cruise, and that is just fine by me. He can be negative. LOL. But I know he will enjoy it and seeing Claire enjoy it will make him happy too. She is so excited to show him what Disney cruising is all about.
Skip also shocked me and said he really wishes we were going to California instead! What??? He is the one who has griped about how long the flight is over the years. I did say he could come down at the end of the conference and we could spend a few days there and he said no to that. I do that that is mainly do to it being so soon and we are still living in an iceland of crud here. I am sure he is worried how his brother would handle it if he left him like that. I know the answer.....he wouldn't!

We still have not gotten an itinerary for the DL conference yet and the word is we won't get it till next week. Nothing like waiting last minute. Oh well, I am just happy to be able to go and see new things.

Oh wow! How cool. It's been a long time since I have seen it. I should get it from the library and watch it again.

Sounds like an amazing deal you got on the rental car. I am glad that the second half of your Florida trip is taking shape. What is it with men and cruises? I had to work on mine for 10 years and he kept making comments that he has no wish to spend his vacation time in a tin can. Since then he has done 14 cruises, 12 of which were on Disney. I hope that Skip will have a similar Eureka moment. It is also encouraging that he is showing an interest in California.

That is a similar response that Skip give too! :rotfl: he wants land he says. I think the balcony room might sway him a bit too...and I got my weapon....Claire!

My husband is exactly the same, I can't convince him he would like cruising. He gets claustrophobia in small spaces, so I think he's convinced the cabins are no bigger than our closet. ;)

But just like our trip to Hawaii, (after telling him for 14 years how wonderful it is) all it will take is some guy telling him how awesome cruising is, and he'll ask why we haven't been on one! Men.

Skip has cruised once before with me on NCL and we had such a great time and he enjoyed so many things...then when we got home he made comments about not liking being stuck on a boat and things like that. And then he has since made it "bigger" in his mind of how stuck you are. I am sure he will enjoy himself...he might not admit it, but he will like it.

And you are right, all it takes is a friend to mention how great it is and then all of a sudden he wants to do something he was against before. :confused3

More WDW news! I booked our after the cruise stay. Getting ahead of myself here, but when we get off the cruise, we plan to go to Legoland for the day.
I debated on going back to Disney property or just getting another hotel somewhere.....but heck why not. I might be depressed and need that last dose of Disney. So I booked a new resort stay for us.

I have had a chance to visit some great Dis Friends here...Kerin and Tom, but I have yet to stay here.

I just go a studio, as that is all we will need for the night. But I am excited. Another place to add to my list of stays.

I am down to 10 day till my DL trip.

As I said, my arrival day will be spent mainly with Stacy. I have a Dis friend who lives in the area and she will be at the parks that day as well, so I might have a chance to meet up with her in the evening.

My room mate...who hasn't yet spilt the beans on her TR on Dis...so I won't give her name...I'll just call her T......... Will be arriving in the afternoon. My plan is to get to the resort by 7 or 8 PM. We are thinking we might go to the parks that night as DL is open till 11 that night. If all works out, we will do that for sure. T and I have never met in real life, but we work for the same company, so we have "known" each other for a few years. I am excited to meet her in real life.
I am wondering how long I will hold up on this day since my flight is so early (Ohio) time and if I make it to the parks till 11, it would be 2AM my time.

I also found out that Paige's boyfriend has to work the day I leave, so they cannot take me to the airport. I am planning on either having my Dad take me, or possibly still looking at a hotel. I am going to research that option today and see if I can come up with a good plan before the day is over.

Great deal on the rental car! I just got one yesterday. I had been looking for a decent price for next week, but everything was so high! I finally found a price I liked with firefly and booked it. Never even heard of them so I hope it goes smoothly!

So does this mean Skip is officially on board for the March trip? He is just too funny with his wide range of travel emotions. OKW is on my list of places to stay. Cannot wait to hear how you like it!

Great news about the car rental. Looks like your trips are taking shape.

Old Key West is wonderful and the studios are huge. This is our home resort so I am a touch biased ;)

Firefly is owned by Hertz, and I am hearing good things. My cousin is using them in March and I was going to, but when it doubled in price to add 4 more days I just couldn't do it.
Yes. We plan to book the rest tomorrow. It's going to be a busy day as my friend is coming over to do my hair as well....and I have a few other things going on as well. But the trip will be at the top of that list.

Finally getting some planning done!!!

I know OKW is bigger than most other DVC's so I am happy about that. I really debated between there and AKL because we loved it so much last year and I wanted Skip to see it, but when it came down to it, I decided that I should try a new thing, since this trip is about doing lots of new things!

Jen,
I am on board. You will love DL and DCA!! Enjoy your trip and I look forward to hearing more about your plans. I hope you will post some teasers on FB.
