Going out routine

I'll spend a bit more time on my makeup, especially my eyes. Then if my nails need to be done, I will touch those up as well. I also dress up more for going out outside of work, and I change out my purses because I usually carry huge bags M-F, and prefer smaller bags for going out.

One thing I do different that my husband and kids make fun of me for, and I guess old habits from my 20s/partying days die hard, I pump up the dance music while I'm getting ready. It helps put me in a good mood!

I usually make sure my nails are painted, or at least decent. I do my makeup to match my outfit and where we are going. I actually wear jewelry.

I am less than low maintenance..I'm no maintenance LOL

I do make sure my clothes are clean and my hair is brushed but not much happens beyond that.

I don't own makeup, I own one purse, and maybe four pairs of shoes.

I do own fancy clothes so I wouldn't show up at a funeral in jeans but those clothes barely get worn.

For my first date with my husband I wore normal clothes, no makeup, and I made him a lasagna..I knew that was the closer LOL

A shower, legs shaved, [calloused nurse's] feet pumiced, a little makeup, nails touched up, perfume, nicer outfit. Usually do most of this anyway except makeup and more casual clothes. I don't generally switch [Disney] bags except maybe for the season. So where are we going? :rotfl2:

A little off topic: My hair is fine (not thin) too, and is also a PITA. After all these years, I've never found a way to deal with it. I hate it.
Carry on......

I so relate. I wear my up and with hair accessories a lot just to not have wispy hair.

I work 50-something hours a week and I'm at the hormonally-challenged stage of my life where I'm pretty exhausted most of the time. DH and I don't do "date night" and outside professional and charity obligations, I'm happier to be home most evenings. When we do go out it's always for a specific reason, and whatever the event is will dictate how I get ready. I do my own nails and they are always "done", although I will often change my polish colour to go with whatever outfit I've got on. My hair is short and not very versatile so it takes some effort to fancy it up - only done for what the OP refers to as "formal galas". I never leave the house without fresh make-up so evening outings require a dash home to quickly spruce up - I absolutely NEVER go anywhere straight from work.
No criticism is intended by this comment whatsoever---I just have to say I got a giggle out of this post becuase I am very lazy about "girly" things and reading about keeping nails always "done" and changing polish to match outfits and not leaving the house without fresh make up all I could think was that I'd be "pretty exhausted most of the time" if I were doing all that upkeep on myself :rotfl2:

Oh geesh.

I've been with my husband since we were 14 and 15.

Our date nights usually consist of going to the grocery store alone.

Sometimes I'll even comb my hair instead of throwing a hat on.

I try to keep my nails painted and brows tamed all the time, and like many here I reserve face masks for nights I'm staying home.

On the rare occasions my husband and I get to go on a date, I'll try something a little different with my hair -- maybe add a braid -- and wear a bolder lipstick, but that's about it.

Its funny - I was freaking impressed. I'm pretty girly...I do keep my nails and brows up (I have a scar that's pretty ugly if I don't fill my left brow and if I do its almost impossible to notice). My nana does the polish change and is constantly refreshed. At 85 years old, she's still so pretty and put together and just polished (lol) looking. I wish I had a tad more give a poop sometimes. I love these boards because the base is SO board, and most of us don't get a big swath of people and opinions IRL, or I don't.

Told my mom I was dating the guy that was gonna be my husband - she said "well have you made him homemade cinnamon roles yet?" she knew what was important

I'm very low/no maintenance as well. I keep my nails short and clean, no makeup and no fancy clothes unless you count a pair of black jeans and a nice top as fancy.

I want this recipe - but for myself. No one has been interesting enough to warrant homemade cinnamon rolls lately:)

Not even a written recipe - one of those :) I actually make the bread from scratch (ok used to - it's been years) and put on lots of butter and cinnamon.

Hopefully someone cinnamon roll worthy pops up for you soon.
