If going only to World Showcase for dinner, is it less walking to park at DHS and take the boat to Epcot as opposed to parking at Epcot and walking to World Showcase?

Maybe a little less walking, but it will take a lot more time.

You could pay to valet park at the beach club and save time and a lot of walking.

IDK...I feel like going HS/Boat over is longer..... 1st park somewhere in the BIG lot...walk to boat dock, wait in line for up to 20 mins, take SLOW boat ride to EP.... get off, walk thru the gate and over to WS..... vs. park at Ep,walk thru gates and over to WS....I wouldn;t do it:thumbsup2 (I've walked from HS over to Epcot many times, but I enjoy long walks)

I realize it will take longer. That is not a concern. My DH is having trouble with his knees, so I'm trying to figure out how to get places with less walking. We will probably eat in France, but we will try to make it all the way around the world before the night is over. With all that walking, I was trying to think of a way to reduce it as much as possible.

Unless you valet park at the Beach Club, it's going to be a fair amount of walking either way. It's rerally just going to come down to how much further up you can park in each lot, and there's absolutely now way of knowing that.

True. I'm used to having a AAA Diamond Pass, so not much walking. I won't have that this time around. I think valet parking is the best solution. How much is it to valet park? Sure wish DVC members still got free valet parking.

It's $15 or $16 plus tip.

EPCOT Main Entrance to France is a walking distance of approximately 1100 yards.

From the DHS parking lot tram to the DHS boat dock is 128 yards.
Boat ride to Epcot.
From the International Gateway boat dock to France is 308 yards.

Thanks for the info! So I was right about it being much closer distance-wise. If I don't valet park at the Beach Club then I will park at DHS for sure.

I *think* I heard/read that if you have a TIW card, you can valet at the BC and dine in Epcot and, as long as you are there less than three hours, your valet fee is free. I know that TIW lets you valet for free at resorts when dining at the resort, but I think it also allows you free parking for dining purposes at the resorts as well. You may want to look into this option as it might save you some money and a long walk.

For future trips I probably will purchase the TIW, but since it's just the two of us this trip, we are going with the DxDDP one last time. In fact, we are doing a split stay at our DVC resort just to get it the first part only. I want to do the dining plan one more time so that I can go to Narcoossee's and get the lobster! Thanks for the info though. I'll keep it in mind for our next trip.

If the point is to avoid walking then I would say parking at DHS and taking a tram over to the DHS entrance and then taking the boat all the way to Epcot would be the least amount of walking. It will definitely take the longest as the boats are not fast at all but you would definitely avoid some walking.Once you get inside Epcot why don't you rent a wheelchair,I think it's like $8-$9.

If he has a handicap placard valet is free, just the tip. Why doesn't he consider renting the ECV, he will get so much more in the day and not feel he is keeping anyone back.

We purchased a go go elit for dh and the best vacations ever because he doesn't run out of steam making for really short days or physically exhausting ones.

This is only partially true. If dining at a BC Table Service restaurant with TiW you may valet park for free. You must show your dining receipt when picking up your car to have the fee waved. Valet parking is good for 24 hours. If dining at an Epcot resort, you may not park at BC unless you pay for valet parking.

If you don't have a TiW card, you may park at BC for 3 hours in the visitor lot.

Thanks for all the information. My DH is a very active 45-year-old. He has just started having some trouble with his knees and plans to see a doctor about it before we go. I doubt he would even consider renting a wheelchair or ECV because he is so active and toughs things out. Hopefully, his knees will be much better by our trip, and we won't have to worry about it. Even so, I do like to avoid unnecessary walking. I want this to be a relaxing trip for both of us. The boat ride from DHS takes a while, but I enjoy it because it feels so relaxing. That's why I was considering it. I didn't know about valet parking at BC. I think it would be worth the cost.
