Going on the Wonder checking on room we have

We are going on the wonder next month and have our room as 8580 Deck 8 Cat.4


Has anyone been in this room or area?

Just wondering about room size? We have a child in a wheelchair so we need x-tra space.

The room is 304 sq ft <I>including</I> the verandah. The footage is more than a Cat. 5 or 6 (which has 268 sq ft counting verandah), but it is <I>not</I> a "wheelchair accessible" room. There is very little maneuvering space, and the bathrooms will not accommodate a wheelchair. Also, it looks like you are directly across from the elevators, so there would probably not be room in the narrow corridor to leave the wheelchair outside the room.

When you made your reservation, did you inform DCL that you needed a wheelchair accessible room?

Ramped bathroom thresholds, open bed frames, added phones in the bathroom/nightstand, bathroom and shower handrails, fold-down shower seats, hand-held shower heads, lowered towel and closet bars, and emergency call buttons. They also have room in the furniture layout for a wheelchair to maneuver.

We traveled the 9-13th of Feb on the Wonder and were in 6647 and the room was HUGE! No veranda, but to tell the truth, we wouldn't have had time for a veranda! We were too busy with all the activities!

I don't think the verandah is the issue. Did you have a wheelchair? A wheelchair takes considerable room to maneuver, and if the wheelchair is needed at all times, a room needs special features. That is why DCL has wheelchair accessible rooms.

I just checked, and 6647 IS a wheelchair accessible room. THAT is why it was so large!
