My DH booked a fireworks cruise for us on the Grand One as an early birthday present to me--we're going again in a couple of weeks.

He also decided that one hour wasn't long enough the last time, and booked for two hours!

My sister, BIL, and their kids will be with us. We're eating at Narcooses for dinner that night, and they are going to bring the boat around to pick us up a the dock there. We figure we'll just be finishing dinner about the time it arrives, so we can say how pretty "that boat" is. Then we'll suprise them when we go out to the dock to "watch the fireworks" and get on :)

He's leaving it up to me to order some snacks, I'm thinking about ordering dessert for onboard, as we will have just eaten dinner. Now how to get them to not want to order dessert at Narcooses without blowing the suprise. Anyone have any ideas?

My DH tried to plan it all as a suprise for me, but decided to tell me for a couple of reasons. He wanted to make sure I didn't go changing our plans around for that night, and he also wanted to know if I thought my sister would freak about putting her kids on the boat (she's an extrememly overprotective mommy.) he also wants me to take care of ordering the dessert, as he knows I'll be able to choose something that everyone will like that will make sense with the kids.

I think he might have a couple other suprises up his sleeve though :)

Congrats!! I was just looking at your pictures of the Grand 1, the other day :)

How about suggesting to your relatives to have dessert "some place else"?? Tell them you have a great place you'd like to go to for dessert, pick a place on Disney property of course, just so they won't want to order dessert after dinner.

Have a wonderful time! :sunny:

Wow Anne, I am sooo jealous...:D What a fabulous thing for your husband to arrange. I only wish my DH was more active in our disney vacations!

I would tell your sister that you have arranged for dessert elsewhere and that its a surprise. Maybe you could arrange the cinderlla skipper desserts for onboard. yum

Have a wonderful "cruise"

Thanks for the advice Laura and SeaSpray! I like the idea of saying we've got a suprise waiting for dessert someplace else, but just being vague about it.

What are "cinderlla skipper desserts"?

Anne

I also vote for the Cinderella slipper desserts. What a great idea.

We are going on the Grand 1 in May for a Wishes cruise. I want to hear all about it when you get back. :D

Have fun.

Ok, Cinderella Slipper.. I thought maybe it was Cinderella Skipper--like in boat skipper.

But I still don't know what Cinderella Slipper Desserts are... please explain someone???

Anne

Ha! I was just saying, "Where's Anne been lately?" You were busy making plans!!! Have a great time!

I've seen pictures of the dessert on these boards but I did a search and can't find anything.

I think it is a white chocolate slipper with some kind of mousse inside topped with 3 or 4 raspberries. It looked beautiful when I saw it in the photos.

I'm sure GF private dining could arrange this for you.

Please take pictures of your cruise. ::yes::

I never said I could type!! And I am also computer impaired! But I did bump up the thread on the cinderrella dessert, check out the restaurant board. The picture looks amazing.

LOL! I got the Cinderella part--but you had me going with the "skipper". I was truly thinking it was something with a nautical theme! LOL! :)

I can't type either--my 8000 posts with typos and everyone knows that.

I just saw the photo of it in the thread you bumped--WOW!! that might jsut be the ticket.

Thanks!

Anne

Anne, that will be so much fun! We did the Illuminations Cruise and it was definitely magical. What a great birthday gift!

BTW, I looked at the pictures of your house! WOW! What a view! How much time are going going to get to spend in your vacation house a year? It's really coming along.

We're hoping to be able to telecommute for two weeks of every month from there, so we'll be there as much as possible. We spoke to our accountant about establishing Florida residency, and we think we'll be able to live tere enough to do that. It will save us a LOT of money on personal income taxes if we can!

I'll have more photo's when I get back in a couple weeks.

Back to the Grand One. As an FYI, when you call the GF private dining, they'll have no idea what a "Cinderella's Slipper Dessert" is. They'll have to call the GF bakery to verify it exists.

That's what we decided on, thanks to Momtoo pulling up that photo on the other thread for me! :)

Anne,

I LOVE the pictures of your Florida home! It's beautiful, and what a location....seeing WDW from your house. What a dream come true. Can I ask where you're building? I am seriously looking at moving to Florida and your location looks great. Thanks

We're in Clermont, just of of Route 27.

Anne

That's so ironic! Clermont is one of the towns I've been checking out. It sounds very nice. After the crappy winter we've had here in Indiana (-20 degrees, lots of ice and snow), Florida is sounding REAL nice!! Thanks for your reply.
