Going on May 22nd... Is a VIP Tour worth it?

My wife and I have been to WDW 5 times total (3 times together) and we've taken our now 1 year old daughter to WDW once. I've been to DLR once, but my wife and daughter have never been.

SO, we are going to go as a family on May 18th-23rd. We plan on doing as much as we can on the 18th-21st (crowd levels are fairly low, 5-6), but I would REALLY like to see some of the 60th anniversary stuff before we leave.

Would it be worth the $500-$1000 to book a VIP tour guide for the evening to take us to the reserved seating for World of Color and the new LED parade?

Or, will we get our fill of 60th stuff in the days leading up to the 22nd?

I'm mainly just (really) concerned about the 10 on TouringPlans crowd calendar for the 22nd... It's a 24 hour party, so I'm sure that 10 will be legitimate.

The 22nd is going to be insane. Lines start overnight for these 24 hour parties, and the park fills to capacity quickly.

From the Disney website a VIP tour has a minimum of 6 hours @$360-500 per hour so it would be quite a bit more than $500-1000. We have always dreamed of doing a VIP tour. Maybe someday if we win the lottery

AH! I did not see the minimum!! Geez... That's a minimum of 2,200.... I think that solves my question.

Guess we'll just have to look around and try to avoid lines on the 22nd. Or maybe go to Universal

Maybe just don't go on the 22nd... 3 days is a decent amount of time if you have park hoppers and hit the parks early you should have no problem. Reservations for food are easier to get than WDW. On crowded days in DL/DCA it is really nice to have a reservation for Lunch and maybe dinner. Book early but if you dont simply call anyways...

Remember rider swap and single rider lines... And FP can be had in both parks at the same time...

Having the VIP guide is amazing but I don't know if it's $2200 amazing.

Yes, a guide is about $2200. Is it worth it? Yes, it really can be. If you can afford it, it is great. When we first started doing VIP tours, they were $50 an hour. I have a friend doing a tour the 22nd.

Many people do just that.
I don't personally have the need or want of such tours. I am happy and content with my own touring style.

If you want good seating for WOC, do a woc meal, we did the lunch at carthay and loved the seating area for it. Plus a wonderful meal to boot.

@jkolkemo That is a fantastic idea!

I think that there are two possibilities for the day:

1.) We could get a DIS group together to split up the VIP tour guide... I am totally cool with this idea!!

2.) I think I may just do the Welcome to Disneyland tour on the day (5 fast passes!) and couple it with a WOC dinner. That still leaves me at a disadvantage as far as the fireworks and parade go, but I'm sure they'll release some sort of special package in the coming weeks for those.
