Hi

First post on here so here goes.

I'm coming to Florida from the UK in early October this year. :woohoo:

I am registered disabled because I have a heart condition so get tired easily when walking around and standing in queues.

I would like to know if there is any assistance provided for queuing in Disney, Universal (studios and IOA) Seaworld and Aquatica?

Also cheap car hire?

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

Generally doing WDW involves walking 8-12 miles (13-19 km) per day. The official Disney suggestion is the rental of a wheelchair or Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV). Alsomt all the queues are "mainstreamed", so you can take the chair or ECV all the way to the front of the queue.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #2 deals with mobility/stamina situations as well as rental information.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

I agree - the best thing to do (and Disney's suggestion/policy) is to rent a wheelchair or ECV (scooter). At Disney, there is no way to skip any of the lines.

There is a GAC, Guest Assistance Card, which can help CMs understand invisible conditions such as heart problems. It is not designed to shorten any wait times, but can help with things like a waiting area out of direct sunlight (the only queue I can think of in direct sun at all is Dumbo).

Even with a GAC, the distance walked is not shortened. Even the Fastpass queue at Soarin is 1/4 mile in, 1/4 mile out, and that is not counting the minimum 1/2 mile you have already walked to get there. One lap around the World Showcase Lagoon is 1.25 miles without even going into any of the attractions.

I really think renting a wheelchair or scooter is going to be your best option. There is a list of rental companies in the FAQs at the top of the page.

Thanks for help I think renting a wheelchair is the best idea. I dont really like the idea of having to be pushed around all day so i can have rest periods in the chair every now and then, when queuing and tired ect.

welcome from good ol' yorkshire :goodvibes

i keep posting this alot today but i am disabled also and the GAC for me works well... its a great system disney has set up for invisible conditions and the cast members really do make the waits as pain-free shall we say for people with disabilities.

anyway

welcome to board and i hope you have a magical time.

An ECV would free you from being pushed. You ae independent -- I often go back to the room to rest by myself (that way I don't feel like I am cramping anyone's style!) Apple has the cheapest rates and I have used them twice when I didn't want to take my own ECV and had great service.
