Hey everyone...I posted previously that DH & I will be starting our family this year :yay: I was going to go off the pill in September & we were going to start trying during our trip to WDW from 9/30 to 10/7...however, we've talked about it and we've decided to go off the pill next month (July) to give my body time to adjust (i've been on the pill for 10 years), and we will be trying while in Disney. I am so excited!!!! I just wanted to get some input of how other people dealt with going off the pill and how it effected their monthly "friend"...any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks :)

Come join the DISers trying to conceive thread. :goodvibes

If you do a search for "conceive" in the title, you should find it. It's been a lucky group lately!

I was off the pill 9 months before I conceived my daughter (we weren't trying any of those 9 months so I don't mean that it took me that long) and I found that my schedule was very predictable, every 28 days. Prior to the pill (I was on it for 3 years) I was regular, but not like that, I mean it was 28-31 days. It was also pretty much symptom free every month and lighter/shorter than pre-pill (but not like when I was actually on the pill). Good luck with ttc!

Be careful. I went off the pill fully expecting my body to take some time to adjust. I adjusted just fine to being pregnant nearly immediately :rotfl: . I think my dh basically looked at me and that was that.

Anyway, I say this as a word of caution because, with my pregnancies at least, I wouldn't have wanted to be walking around WDW at 2-3 months. You might want to start charting your temps between now and your trip so you know when you ovulate. It's really easy to do and very effective.

Good luck!

My DH and I were told by my OBGYN that since I had been on the pill for more than 5 years...it could take me a year to get pregnant.

So I went off the pill and I was pregnant a month later  of course it turned out to be the best thing ever, but at the time we were kinda shocked.

It's now 17 years later and I wouldn't change it for the world :thumbsup2

Good luck :goodvibes :wizard:

With both DDs I got pregnant immediately after I went off the pill. My dr said he puts women on the pill to help them to have a child cause right after you stop taking them the chances are suppose to be better. Looks like soon you will be hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet. How exciting!!

Good luck!!

I went off the pill 3 months ago and expected my cycle to immediately return to pre-pill cycles. That didn't happen exactly. I had some spotting in between periods (very light) for the first 2 months which I never had before. But, I read that it can take a couple months for your cycle to return to normal. Now, my "friend" is a little heavier than when I was on the pill, but other than that, I seem to be back to normal.

I'm not TTC for a few months though, b/c I want to try to get healthy this summer first. Good luck!!!

I went off the pill in April - was pregnant in May. My OB told me that was pretty common. Don't know, but he said women were told in the past to wait to "give their bodies time to adjust" but in fact, he said it was because they could better acurately predict the due date if they has a baseline cycle to use. Now, they don't need it because they can predict it with the initial ultrasound.

I had pretty irregular periods before I went on the pill. When I went off, I had a period 6 months later, and then no more periods for 9 months, when i had it chemically triggered through my doctor. I was diagnosed with PCOS, and had a really tough time getting PG.

I think every woman's experience is different.

Good luck to you. :wizard:
