Hi Everyone,

I have not been to DW since 1991. My hubby is taking me for my 40th birthday/second honeymoon. Please advise if this is a good time to visit. Also we like to wing it and did not make dinner reservations. Do we need to do that??

THANKS!!!

We're going next week and booked our ADRs in advance. I unerstand that table service restaurants have been v busy lately due to the free dining option.

Not sure if that has ended now, so u may be OK

The free dining promo is over. The dining package can be purchased anytime you book a Disney package (tickets and hotel). The dining package is an add-on and still a great deal!

I believe the free dining promo ended Oct. 4th.

We have always gone at this time. We too leave next week. Crowds are lower at this time. Weather is hot enough (80's) but not hot like in the summer. We can still enjoy the water parks. Free dining is over now so that shouldn't be a problem for us next week. We never make dining reservations because we don't want to be tied down. As long as you are either willing to wait for a table or flexible on the resteraunt you eat at you might be able to get in where you want. Also eat at off times, that makes a huge difference. I have heard of people waiting for their table on an ADR for as long as we did just walking in...go figure.

Will you be attending MNSSHP? If not you might want to consider that.

I am new. What is a free dining option and what are ADR and DDE?

Thanks a lot!

Free dining was something they offered during hurricane season to attract more visitors. No longer available.

ADR - advance dining reservations
DDE - :confused3

There is a place here that you can look up abbreviations. On the main page under First Time Visitors.

The free dining option was part of a package but as someone said it is over now. Given its success it will probably be back again. This is something they did in off season to attract visitors. An ADR is an advanced dining reservation. It means you arrive at that restaurant at the time of your ADR and you will be given the next available table. You can still have a wait but NOTHING like you would have without an ADR. DDE is the Disney Dining Experience Card. It is for Annual Pass Holders and Florida residents. It costs $50 and will save you 20% on your food and beverage at the sit down restaurants in the parks and resorts, some of the resort food courts and pool bars and the counter service places at Animal Kingdom which has no sitdown options other than Rainforest Cafe which is not Disney owned or operated and is separate.

If you can, I would call 407-WDW-DINE and try to get some ADR's (these used to be called ps or priority seatings by the way) if you can. With Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and many schools around the US having fall breaks there will be a lot of people there. It won't be packed like summer or Christmas but if you have some dining plans it might add to your experience. You can check out menus for all the Disneyworld restaurants at www.allearsnet.com Click on "menus". Have a great trip!
