Our family has always gone the slowest times of the year to Disney. In the past couple years even the slower times have seemed much busier than in the past though.

Because of kids schedules the only time that's possible for us to go this year is in June. Does anyone love going this time of the year or is it so hot and busy that it's better to wait a year and hope to go at a "slower" time of the year?

It's Disney, so I can't imagine it not being fun, but scared to spend so much and wish we had waited instead of going in the summer....

We've always had fun in June. Sure its hot and crowded but with good planning you can still enjoy yourself. Just use the general rule of arriving at the parks at rope drop to beat the crowds and get A LOT done. Then in the hot afternoons consider going back to room or seeing attractions that are air conditioned. There are some great tips on this board and others about what supplies you need when visiting DW during the hotter months.

First two weeks in June is one of our favorite times. Not too hot, not too crowded. We went during that time several years in a row and have great memories! Have fun!

Our last 5 trips have been in June. Its hot!
Drink a lot of water..
We have found that Rope drop is your key to success in any park.
We always take a 3 hour or so break in the afternoon...nap, swim, just to refresh, change clothes.
The crowds are not unmanageable by any stretch.
We have always had a great time in June, just be prepared for the heat.

You are already making me feel better. :) It would probably be the third week in June we could go.

We went in June last year, the first two weeks and we won't do that again. Although the first week was less crowded then the second, it was still busy and HOT, oh did I mention it was HOT!!! We had a rental car and the kids got a kick out of taking pictures of the outside temp once we were in the car and driving. It was mostly 95-100!
PLUS, with the new FP+ system, I can't personally imagine spending all that money to get only 3 FP/day and then standing in the hot lines during a busy time if you have the option to go during a less busy time.
That's just my opinion.

We're going to be there arriving near the end of the third week of June. Our first Summer trip too, having done several April, May, September and October trips. We are super excited. There is a June planning thread on the Happy Dance/countdown subforum at the top of this page, also full of helpful tips and info :)

Having toured at quieter times for the last four years I am looking forward to the longer park hours offered by the summer months (we did a couple of Easter trips before so less heat, but busy busy busy) and I found it easier to structure a day with greater flexibility with longer hours. As others suggested, hit the parks early and then take a break. Nice thing in the busier season is that you don't have this urgency to hurry and get back to a park because it closes at 8 or 9 pm. So if the kids don't want to get out of the pool or are tired and want a longer nap, you have the flexibility to do that.

Go on .... do it! You know you want to ::yes::

We went in June 2009. Thank god for the DIS and me learning how valuable rope drop is. Get there at RD, have a decent lunch in the park if you so choose and return to your hotel until about 5/6. Then either hop to another park (if you get hoppers) or back to the park. If you do this, you will be fine.

It will be crazy hot. CRAZY. But we managed fine, even with a 2 year old. LOL!

Fun or crazy?
I'd vote crazy fun.

You do have to change your outlook on things if you are used to less crowded and cooler times of year.

The parks are usually open longer hours, so plan on doing as much as possible in the first 3 hours and last 3 hours of the day. Those would be when crowds and heat are both the lowest, so run around like crazy then and try to do as many rides as possible.

If possible, having something different than rides planned for the mid afternoon which will be both the most crowded and hottest part of the day. Maybe leave in the early afternoon and go back to swim at the resort pool for a few hours. Then, come back to the park after dinner time.
Or plan to hit all of the inside shows in the mid afternoon. A nice long sit in the air conditioning at the Hall of Presidents or the American Adventure can do wonders.

We did second/third week of June last year and sorry to say we won't do it again. Crazy crowded, crazy rainy and crazy humid. Just my opinion though!

We've gone a lot in June because of school. It's been hot, rainy and crowded. We did however have many great memorable trips. Just go with it. In 2009 there was a horrible heat wave that we had to be inside from 12:00-2:00pm. Just work around the heat and crowds and you will have a good time.

We went the third week of June 2013. It was hot and humid like a typical summer day where I'm from. I noticed this affected my then 4 year old son more than my husband or myself. So I agree with the rope drop and then afternoon break suggestions. I thought it was crowded but then again I didn't have a reference point since it was our first trip. I'd definitely go during June again. If you're from somewhere that has hot, humid summers I don't think the weather will put you off.

When we went in June of 2012, it only hit 90 one time, and we were at Typhoon Lagoon that day :). So, there's always a chance it won't be unbearably hot. We like water parks, so I'd take hot (and longer hours) over any chance of cool weather myself :thumbsup2

We have been in June before (not my favorite time to go) and we are going again this June. In 2011 we went from June 1-11. It wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. We got up early and hit the parks at rope drop, went back for a swim or rest midday and then went back to the park in the evening.
With our daughter in high school, we have found that she can miss much time before she starts struggling (even though we were able to take our oldest 2 out up till their senior year).
We are going again this June (7-21) for 2 weeks so it must not be that bad;)
Stay hydrated for sure and take a break midday :)

Done a few trips in May, July and August. Going the end of June into July this year.
It is HOT. But as others have said. Getting to the park at RD, heading out to change clothes, swim, rest in the middle of the day and going back out in the evening made for an enjoyable trip.
The kids enjoyed having misters or fans with us, we took plenty of breaks in the AC while in the parks, drank a great deal of water and wore light/ loose clothing.

We like June a lot better than August. It feels like the humidity just hasn't "settled in" yet, it's more tolerable. We use cool ties, lots of water bottles and don't eat much. The worst thing you could do in June is get the dining plan IMHO.

The best thing is the long park hours at MK. We go a park early, then back to the room by lunchtime, then swim and hang out at the resort. Dinner then back out to a park. Many nights, we ended up at MK around 8:30, and rode a lot while Wishes and the parade were going on. Occasionally we'd stop for the second parade, but only if it was convenient. Park hoppers are a must and we get the water parks add-on because it's so much cheaper. A couple hours at a water park for the lazy river and wave pool is great.

A June trip really gives us the opportunity to enjoy the resort and other WDW activities outside of the parks. It feels like we really get our money's worth.

All of these demands a car though. I don't think we could do it all and use just Disney transportation. It would be exhausting!
