We are thinking of going in December this year too.

Which DVC would you pick?

What will the weather be like (first half of december)

Can we swim still?

Will parks be packed?

Any DVC you pick will be beautifully decorated for Christmas. We LOVE :love:them all and believe you could NOT go wrong with what you choose. My best advice is BOOK ASAP as your first choice may not be available. We went last Dec (second week) and it was C-O-L-D ! We couldn't swim and the kids were upset about that. Oh, and YES DEC. has become quite a popular month! We didn't expect it to be as crowded as it was.

Yes, I would call and book ASAP. We have friends who have been on a waiting list, so the sooner you act, the better!

it's getting a little last minute for DVC bookings...

Which DVC would you pick?

i like AKV-jambo house, but many prefer VWL or BWV. i stayed at BLT last year. it's hard to go wrong...

varies a lot. a couple of years ago, i needed a jacket at night.

Can we swim still?

last year, it was warm enough during a 2-3 hour window in the middle of the day in late november...but i wouldn't count on it.

Will parks be packed?

not the first week of december. then it picks up as kids get out of school until christmas week...which is completely packed...

ok, we def want to be able to swim.

does anyone know when they decorate? late nov?

pretty much everything is up by thanksgiving week. a few of the decorations are up before thanksgiving...but you miss out on a lot in terms of decorations (IMO) by going earlier.

MK will be decorated by the second week of Nov for the MVMCP. Last year Epcot began decorating immediately after F&W ended but that was a week earlier than this year. I'd guess they'll have everything up by Thanksgiving. And last year DHS had the Osborne lights going by the 2nd week of Nov and most/all of the Christmas decorations up by the middle of the month.

Bookings for this December will be tough as many DVCers book at the 11 month point.

December is a very popular time for DVCers as the points charts are low, the crowds are low at certain times and the weather isn't unbearably hot.

Have you tried to make a reservation yet?

Everything is beautiful at Christmas in Disney. I especially liked BWV and VWL- but that's tough to get at even 7 months for Christmas.

Last week, we booked a short, mid-week stay at BLT the first week in December. Everything open by MK view, but who knows how long that will last.

We, too, are staying over the holidays and we opted for BLT. Its probably not going to be as decorated as the other resorts, but its location can't be beat! Good luck with planning your December trip! :goodvibes

i would be trading in with RCI, and there is a TON of available condos.

You are seeing a lot of DVC options???? Strange that they would bank Dec. rooms when that's such a popular time for DVC ressies. Maybe that's why many people here are not able to get what they want already.

yeah i guess people bank in dec to get a higher trade value, is what im thinking. i see studios and a few 1 bed. no 2 beds.

My FIL has a 2 bedroom at OKW for Dec 3-10 through RCI. I started looking 10 months in advance for him at the RCI site and grabbed it when if came up in mid-May one morning. The RCI points charged for it was very reasonable, I thought. We also bookeda week at AK in March 2011 through RCI and the points for that one bedroom were approximately equivalent to the points necessary for teh 2 bedroom in early December!

We are staying at AKV - Kidani from December 18-21. Before that we drive down and stay with friends for a day or two so we wont' be there long, but we are going to Universal and just staying at Disney.

We originally booked at BWV where we own and I switched at our 7 month window to Kidani with no problems. The MS person actually said they had a lot of openings.

This is very disappointing to me. DVC should not, imo, cut we members out of our favorite times by banking RCI rooms. But maybe there wasn't the demand for December this year?
