Well August is a long ways off but when you are sitting up north in cold weather what else do you have to do????? :goodvibes

We are going in the middle of August, and I know that it will be very hot and humid. I mentioned to someone that I wasn't taking a coat and pants along for me or the DS's or DH. They said I was nuts. I know that PA has been humid the last few years but my brain isn't functioning for the even weather for that time of year....

So for those of you that have been there is August do I need to bring pants and a jacket along......... Thanks for all of you help

:thumbsup2

If you get cold in air conditioning, bring pants and/or a jacket. Otherwise unless you are in the middle of a tropical storm there is no way you will need them outdoors!

We are going in August. Leaving here on the 12th. And staying in Florida for 2 weeks. I can't wait. We may bring jackets. Light windbreaker type. :)

Have gone many times in the summer and I've always worn shorts. I've stopped packing any sort of pants b/c it ends up being a waste of suitcase space for me. But I always bring a sweatshirt or 2 for evenings and especially when I'm in places that the A/C is too cold.

You might want to bring travel-sized laundry supplies. We went through at least 2 sets of clothes each every day, and did laundry more often than we anticipated.

We brought along a travel sized Tide (from Target), a ziplock baggie with Oxyclean, a ziplock baggie with some dryer sheets, and a film canister filled with quarters. That came in handy!

We didn't bring any pants or jackets. It was HOT. We loved the a/c and never felt chilly.

we went in Sept and never needed a coat or sweater or pants...but bring your PONCHOS!!! :thumbsup2

I also did not bring enough clothes for DD5, (those Mickey heads are not as pretty when leaking and melting down your childs shirt!!) but my other two kids were ok with it...

and of course I brought PLENTY of clothes for myself!!! :rotfl2:

but this time I get to bring my CHI and test it out on the Florida humidity!!

Thank you everyone I appreciate your help. I think I will not pack any sweatshirts, I can then buy for the whole family if we need them.....My DH will just love that. And I already picked up a fold up travel laundry basket. And I am planning on at least doing laundry once, so I don't have to take all of our clothes...LOL And I have already got disposable ponchos.....My lovely DH told the lady at Target that I bought the whole youth section out of ponchos when we bought them, she thought it was funny.....oh well I am saving us money in the long run.

DS9 and I are always cold, so I will bring a light jacket for each of us. (We're going Aug. 3-12). DH said he isn't going to bring one for himself. The last time we ate at Hollywood & Vine it was FREEZING, and if DS is cold he won't eat. Better to have a jacket that we can grab from the locker before dinner than to be freezing every time we go into a restaurant. :)

Being that I live in South FL, over the years I dress more like a Floridian. Capri's in the summer, barely wear shorts LOL!!!...EXCEPT to WDW. In August, definitely shorts at WDW!!

I would recommend throwing in a pair of either capri's or yoga pants just because like many of the posters mentioned, because of the COLD A/C. I wouldn't bother with jeans though since they take up more room and you probably won't use them. But, if it's raining out and your a bit wet, it can feel even colder in the restaurants. And, definitely a windbreaker or a long sleeve blouse you can use as a jacket (because they're lightweight and easy to toss in a backpack).

I would bring one pair light pants/light jacket.. but ony for indoors. Definatly not outdoors. It is Florida in August, and it is insanely hot/humid there. The last two times I visted in August jackets and pants were far FAR from my mind. :rotfl:

When we went in Aug 2004, we each packed one pair of pants and a light jacket/sweatshirt - never touched them. When we went last July, we didn't bring pants or jackets (not anything heavier than a t-shirt), we were fine. Even at night, it is still 80 degrees. And the air-conditioned barely cooled us down coming in from 100 degrees!

The only thing you need is summer clothes. No pants, jackets will be neccessary.

:confused3 Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "CHI" of which you speak? :confused3 If it's something to help combat the Florida humidity, I love it already! :lovestruc

The first time we went in August we brought one pair of pants and a jacket for everyone. They NEVER came out of the suitcases. I'm always cold at home even in the summer and I never need a sweater at WDW in August. As a previous poster said even at night it is in the 70-80's. It makes packing easier.

On our last June trip, we had one rainy evening at EPCOT where DD and I were COLD! I would have given anything for a pair of jeans but I brought nothing but shorts. That said, I'm from Texas and a cold weather wimp to boot! If you are used to REAL cold weather, as opposed to what I consider cold, lol, then you'll probably be fine without pants or a jacket!

I believe the "CHI" she is speaking of, is a WONDERFUL flat iron for your hair, it really is great even in the humidity, I lived in NC til a few months ago and my CHI was my best friend! :hippie:

You didn't ask, but the other essential for August is a water spray bottle w/fan. It is sooooo hot; the mist/air combo was a lifesaver for us and for many who were waiting in long lines around us! Our family of 4 shared 2 bottles last trip. This year we'll each have our own.

we went in

august a couple of years ago and everyone but myself was very hot all the time. might I prefice this by saying that I hardly ever wear shorts even in summer because I am cold all the time, even in 80's if there is a breeze. i wore pants or capris the whole trip and it was 70's night to 90's day. so it all depends on if you get cold easily or not. in the shows and some rest it is very cold so bring a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt.

I sometimes am glad to have capris to wear instead of shorts, especially when we are going to a nicer restaurant in the evening, or staying in the part very late. Also, for those times a 100% cotton button down the front shirt is a great option to have to tie around your waist or put in your backpack. You can get a little cool in a restaurant in the evening or the ac can be cool at night. :)
