Has anyone else done this? The last time I had short hair was back in high school, decades ago. Yesterday, I got my hair cut off to about chin length, as it had been growing in so weak & brittle from my thyroid condition and my stylist said even a deep conditioning couldn't help it much. :(

I still feel kind of light-headed, even though it's been a full day. I didn't realize all that hair weighed so much! And I'm still in shell-shock.

Every time I go past a store window and see my reflection in passing, I get a jolt. "Who's that?!?" :lmao:And I poured out way too much shampoo/conditioner than I needed this morning and had to get it back in the bottle. I realized I will probably need a scarf for my neck this winter. :cold:

I like the style. But, I'm already thinking of growing it back out as my thyroid problem is under control now. Anyone keep theirs really short after cutting it and not regret cutting it? Or were you impatient and couldn't wait to grow it out long again? :hippie:

I always regret cutting mine. But after a month or so, I get used to it and then I'm happy.

I would grow it back if you don't feel comfortable with it soon. Give it a month. I lobbed mine off once and only once. Never again. It just didn't feel like me.

I generally only cut my hair once a year, or so. So I'm always going from "long" to "short". And I mean short, as in practically shaved in the back.

Ive had it done twice,.the first time I was a kid and my mom had it chopped of Dorothy Hamill style my df was mad.

The last time a couple years ago, but at the time I needed a change, it was weird at first,.but it became ok. I need a trim, I had getting it trimmed, but I dont want to look like Cousin It either, lol.

I wrote this in the other haircut thread, but every I chop it, I immediately regret it within a few days. When it's long, it's just so easy (I have thick, wavy hair). There's more maintenance when short. I didn't learn that lesson the first 7 times I did it, but I think I'm finally at the point where I'll stop chopping haha!

Your post is so timely that it's eerie! I started growing mine to all one length over a year ago, probably close to 2 years. The bangs were chin length and the rest was probably 4 inches past my shoulders. I took a photo in on Thursday of the cut I wanted Trendy-layered-hairstyles-for-women.jpg

and what I ended up with was a cross between Taylor Swift and Shaun Cassidy6cac27294011bb8c40d20e3a92fbff33.jpg shaun_cassidy-thats_rock_n_roll(1).jpg

My husband said "...it looks like a boy's haircut."

I'm growing it back out and hopefully find someone who can cut it the way I want it.

I don't regret cutting mine, as it always seems to grow back ;) I did forget the other morning that I dyed my hair dark red the night before, and scared myself when I looked in the mirror!

I love my pixie cut and the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. I have gone from long to pixie several times since I was a teen so I don't see it as a big deal like my friends do.

When I was about 7 or 8 my mom cut my almost butt-length hair to my chin. I cried for days and I would shower multiple times a day because when my hair was wet, it was slightly longer lol!

I think I look much younger with long hair. Several years ago I would cut it short to be taken more seriously, but now that I'm a bit older, I'm not in a rush to look older than I have to!

I use to have long hair, and I have cut it so short and regrown it back out. I also have a thyroid issue. I go back and forth. I never really thought about it before.

I went from ridiculous 80's style poofy hair to pretty short when I was like 18. I guess it was a kind of crisis I was having or something between romantic troubles and graduating high school. I was freaked out for a short time, but I got over it. Definitely is a weird feeling.

I cut my mid back length hair short about a year ago and I don't regret it for a second. It's cut very close to my head, like a pixie cut but not as short. I love it now because my hair is so thick that when I kept it long it was like wearing a carpet on my head. I get it trimmed every 5-6 weeks.

I bet you're rocking the new do Imzadi..and scarves, there are so many cute ones! Give it a chance, and maybe as it grows out you will find a length in -between that you like even better than your longer hair!In the meantime, , all I can think of is Tangeled

mostly because she looks beautiful either way :flower1:

I cut all mine off awhile back. I like the short hair, but I am trying to grow my bangs out and it's driving me crazy!

Every few years I'll chop it all off to somewhere between chin & shoulder length - one time I had a foot taken off! I'll then keep it short for awhile and then get sick of paying to have it cut and grow it out. It's been long for awhile now and I'm starting to get that urge to chop...although I'm torn as it's around waist length & I kind of like the idea of ridiculously long hair!

I had a disastrous pixie cut in the 5th grade, and haven't worn my hair above shoulder-length since.

I went from long to SHORT this year and i love it! Short is so much easier to style and maintain for me. Bonus, DH loves it too.

I went from long and curly to short and straight. Now I'm back to long and slightly wavy but expect to be back short soon. I think I have less maintenance when it's short. And this long mess is hot!! If my DD wasn't getting married Saturday this would have been gone a few months ago!
