Sorry if this has been covered, I just read on another post that OKW is running a boat to SSR to use the pool there while their main pool is under rehab.
How long does the boat ride take? Do you have to wait a long time for the boats to run? How is the pool there? So basically I guess what I'm asking is, is it worth it?
(We're going for a quick long weekend trip, but we may have a couple of hours free our first evening, depending on how tired the kids are). Thanks!

There were rumors of a boat, but I've not seen anything confirmed in the month since the OKW pool closed.

There is a boat that runs between OKW, SSR and Downtown Disney, but I believe it only runs on the hour until late afternoon.

Hopefully I can help clear this up. There is a boat that runs from OKW to DD and SSR. My DH and I used this boat a few weeks ago. We had stayed at SSR and then had to move to OKW for two nights. We really loved the High Rock Springs pool and music at SSR and the OKW pool was closed. We ended up at SSR the last night of our stay. The last boat was said to run at 11:00 at night. We hung around the SSR pool until about 10:40. The last boat did run at exactly 11:00. Be warned, there are other boats that will pass you by as you wait, don't panic! We saw a number of boats from Port Orleans go by. They are supposed to run on the half hour. You might want to double check though, just in case. If you like to swim and don't want to miss out, I recommend the High Rock Springs pool. The music is fun and so is the slide! I loved it!

We were at OKW during the last hurricane and the boats did not run for a few days so people had to get the bus to DTD and then change to the one for SSR. That would work for late evenings if they cut back the schedule but can take awhile to get there and back to say nothing of having to wait at DTD in bathing suits unless you take clothes along. If you have a car the drive is probably less that 5 minutes and the way I would go if I couldn't take the boat or didn't want to have to be tied to it's schedule..

We rode the boat from OKW to SSR a week ago. It is definitely worth it. It leaves from OKW on the half hour. The ride is short and very pleasant. Our kids LOVED it, and it was fun seeing the treehouses, ect. on the way. When you are ready to come back there is a phone on the dock at SSR and you can call the captain and ask him to come back and get you. This is a special boat while the pool at OKW is closed, it only goes back and forth while the other one goes to DTD. You do NOT have to walk to DTD to catch the boat back. We swam at SSR on a Saturday afternoon. It was not very crowded, the pool is fantastic with 2 slides, and we drank smoothies at the poolside bar!!! I highly recommend it......any questions just ask.....Lacee

We're here now and it's still running.

BTW-even though they have the area boarded up you can still see through and there is nothing going on. I can't imagine there will be a themed pool and all in 2 months.

How long is the OKW pool supposed to be closed? For those of you who have been around a while - Does Disney usually meet their deadlines?

We just returned from a week end at SSR and OKW. We took the car to SSR pool on Sunday afternoon it was a five minute ride which is the way to go if you have a car. Otherwise I agree with the above post if you have some time to kill the ride via boat would be nice.

As far as I know Disney usually completes it's refurishments on time or earlier. I recall when they were building Splash Mountain they worked three shifts and completed that project early.

Enjoy!
