Going from large reservation to smaller

Okay. We have a large party but a few people may or may not be coming. I've booked it like they are, but should they back out, I'm hoping to just edit the reservation for those who are coming.

Don't bother. As long as someone shows up, you're fine. If you edit it, and then the people who didn't want to go suddenly want to, you're now stuck.

If you are certain they aren't going, you can call in and the rep can call the restaurant to decrease your number. No sense in taking a spot that other people may be desperate to get. :)

Just leave the reservation as is. When you get to the podium give your name and the actual number of people in your party. You will be seated with no problem. I have tried to edit the number of people in a reservation in the past and did not have a good experience.

I had a similar situation on our last trip. I thought we'd have 8 people, but two backed out after we had made the reservations. I called Disney and was told to leave the reservations for 8; there was no penalty for showing up with fewer guests.

The only reservation I changed was for HDDR, which was paid at booking.

It all worked out. My sister-in-law and niece ended up joining us, so the reservations for 8 came in handy.
