Going Down the Bayou for Baby's First Trip Aug 26th to Sept 3rd PTR

WooHoo!! I know the days are going to go quickly too, I have more to do than I thought!!

You know, I've never seen "Up"?:guilty: Almost started watching it a couple times but knowing I'll cry......I turn the channel lol! Maybe that will be our Friday night Disney movie this week:thumbsup2

It really is a wonderful movie. I highly recommend it. Though tissues are a great idea. ;)

I was finally getting caught up on everything that needs to be done, then I got sick. I have almost no voice, my head is pounding, and Brom hasn't slept (so I haven't slept) in 4 days. I've done almost nothing in this time. Tomorrow I have to kick it into high gear!

Ugh, that's why I always try *not* to leave things until the last minute - someone always seems to get sick the week before we leave :sad2: If it's not me it's one of the kids, which as you know means getting zilch done. Luckily both boys are in basketball camp 9-4 this week which leaves me lots of time to get things done (or play around on Disboards lol) but we do have a full weekend coming up so I'm kind of down to 4 full days plus next Monday.......

I do hope you feel better asap! And Brom starts sleeping tonight!

For the past month or so we've had "Planes" playing in our van while driving around. I've never seen the movie, only heard. So our current movie theme is "Planes"!

WHOA! I thought that little forklift mechanic was a plane! I had NO idea she wasn't - and Dusty's buddy is a TRUCK?!?!?! Okay talk about imagination filling in the blanks wrong!

After the initial shock wore off, we really enjoyed the movie.

Today we created our own planes and had our own Wings around the Globe Race. What fun!

Everyone helped cut cardboard

Unique personalities shone through in the details

Racing gear was donned.

Ready for the first heat

Minor mechanical problems arose when 'The Painted Wings" lost it's landing gear. After tears were dried, the racers were off again.

BabyBoy and DaddyMan put on a good show in "Crash&Burn", but sadly did not make it to heat 2.

Cordelia was worried about her landing gear, but thought she could handle the second heat.

Racers were ready.

It was close, but MamaDandelion pulled ahead at the last bend.

Neighbours came out to watch, um, stare at us, like we were nuts. Fun was had by all!

And if anyone has any idea what to do with 10 cardboard airplanes, please tell me. Our house is overrun with airplanes - and we still have one more day of Planes themed activities! HELP! :lmao:

Our trip's coming up fast!! YIPPIE!

Of course, that means it's time to change things! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Mr. & Mrs. T had a slight change of plans, which may have caused major panic, and a minor heart attack! But after the initial shock and dismay wore off, and a good chat with my Cuz, I was able to pull myself together and make a plan.

I thought, no big deal, just switch the day we meet them wight he day we meet up with D.D and her family. SHouldn't be a problem. Well, it was. :rolleyes2 So I madly dashed around sitchign our HS and Epcot days around, getting new FP+ (I even got a good time for TSMM!!!) plus new ADRs, only to realize that meant I wouldn't actually get to see MR. T for more than an hour this trip.

This was super difficult for me. I didn't want to cancel on D.D, but since I see them weekly, I decided that was the only option. But by then I'd already cancelled my ADR for California Grill which I'm really super sad about. I've been trying to dine there for ages, but it never worked out. And of course I can't find anything near as good anymore. :sad1: The good news is that we're spending less money OOP b/c we're not dining at a signature restaurant anymore.

This also means my access to desserts dropped by close to 80% :furious: So DHs ordering me a cake for my birthday! (as long as there's enough time left to get everything approved through the magic kingdom cake hotline). I'm so excited! I LOVE Disney cakes. :)

Then to change things up even more, my sister just got back to me that she can meet up! I get to meet my nephew for the first time!! :cool1::cool1::cool1: And it's been years since i saw my niece! But this meant changing an ADR to accommodate the much larger party size. Good news, we got one at Raglan Road, like we wanted, the bad news, is it's at 5. :worried: A bit earlier than I'd like, but I'm sure it'll be okay, plenty of time to take the kiddos back to the resort to play together after dinner.

Whew! Busy past couple days getting this all squared away!

But my costume is finished! And I'm almost finished DH's. They're looking awesome! Really looking forward to the party now!

:bday:party: :bday:party:
:cake:

Guess who's 1?!??!?!

I can hardly believe a whole year's flown past. Brom is 1 today and such a sweet heart. :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

I love this little guy so much and can hardly wait to see his face at Disney. I'm also so excited to see what the next year brings!

Here's a few pictures of the past year.

While we're on the subject of Brom, let's talk about entertaining a baby/toddler on flights!

We have 2 - 3(ish) hour long flights between here and MCO.

In the past, our babies/toddlers have actually mostly slept for the flights. Waking up early, and playing int he airport allows them to be tired out when we fly. I nurse the baby in a carrier and all is calm and peaceful.

:cool1:

Of course, it's never a good idea to count on peaceful lol, esp with 4 children! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We have a couple board books with us for Brom, as well as a roll of painters tape - just sticky enough to be fun, but really easy to clean up. We also have snacks and his sleepy music. The rest of the time, I hope between the bigs and Ryan and I, we'll be able to keep him occupied.

For the big kids, we have books for them to read/look at, as well as some for us to read to them. We also have activity books with crayons and (crayola) markers - stray marks wipe off easy with baby wipes. And we're bringing their leap pads and explorer,a s well s the iPod, and iPad and maybe even Ryan's tablet. So the big kids will be plenty occupied with all of that.

In the airports we have our double buggy (the attached buggy board will be stowed in a suitcase/carry-on so we don't risk it getting broken) as well as a couple carriers. Worst case scenario, we put Cordelia and Brom on Ryan's and my backs, one of us pushes the buggy with Ella and Agatha and the other hauls carry-ons. We've opted for a long lay-over this time, but just in case of a delayed initial flight we're prepared.

The way home will be tricker - we have barely an hour lay-over. So no time to find food that's safe for us, and also less time between gates/terminals. But we find after a week at Disney, the kiddos are us usually sufficiently tired to sleep for both flights home.

Tomorrows the last chance to get everything done, so I'm making a list.

Oh, and the girls think we still have 10 days until we go, but they're starting to say they wish we were going sooner. :rotfl2: Though I lied to Ella today. She knows the date we leave, I had no idea she knew that! So today, she asked me what the date is - I panicked and lied. :crazy2: I actually feel really bad about it!

Okay, so what's left?

PACK Yep, still have to do that. Though everything's mostly ready, I just need to double check and get the carry-ons done.
Pick-up last minute diapers and wipes
Take Chester (the dog) to the dog sitter
Order groceries for when we come home no shopping, just pick-up the packed groceries the day we return.
Check in for flights
Load the van
Set my Donald Alarm
Pre-prepare breakfast for our super early wake-up

Mostly we're ready to go. I can hardly wait!

Just want to wish Brom Happy Belated Birthday:yay: and wish you all safe travels tomorrow!! We fly out at 2:15 and arrive at MCO 4:59. Here's to great weather and wonderful trips for us both!pixiedust:

Thanks so much! :) We fly out at 6:30AM and get to MCO at 7:30PM :scared1: We have a 4 hr layover in Houston. But I'm hoping this will be good; it'll give us a chance to actually eat at a restaurant and let the kiddos run a bit. We'll see how it goes.

Safe travels.

Yay!!:dancer::yay::yay: Hope you have a wonderful time! I can't wait to read your trip report!

Thanks I'm sure we'll have a blast!

I just hope I'm better with pictures this time, I almost always forget to take the pictures I plan. Hopefully memory maker will make it easier. :thumbsup2
