OK, I need advice, words of wisdom, similar situations, anything will do. :goodvibes

I am currently booked with the free dining bounceback offer for dates 9/25-10/4. I have also received a 40% off offer, and am still considering that as an option as well.

Now, I have posted on a couple of threads about my kids change in fall vacation dates. I noticed a few days ago on their school calendar that the dates have been changed from 10/6 - 10/10. So now they will fall outside the Bounceback and 40% off dates. Right now the new dates fall into a black hole, no disounts. These two discounts I have are absolutely awesome, and I just can not bring myself to change the dates and my ressie to rack. It is killing me! I just think that would be NUTS to give them up.

My issue with going is that the school is severely strict on any type of absense. I had actually been called to the school before and threatened over "excused" absenses when DD was in kindergarten. I threw a hissie fit, and trust me when I say, it was not pretty. Anyhow, DD will be in 3rd grade and DD will be in 1st when we go, and they will only miss 3.5 days.

So, do I go?

Thanks in advance for your input! I know this is definitely not an end of the world issue and it probably sounds like a no brainer to some of you. :) But I do appreciate your input. :flower3:

Thanks!

Denise

My Personal opinion...GO! Sorry to hear that you have to deal with the strictness. It would not be a question for us. Do what is best for you but enjoy your vacation too!:hippie:

I would go. I've pulled my kid out 4 straight years K-3rd.

Can the teacher prepare the week ahead for your kid? Then get it done on vacation. 3rd grade was maybe 2hrs homework for the week. No big deal.

Can you notify the school in advance? I know that in both the district that my husband and I teach in, and our childrens district, you have to fill out a vacation request form, which if approved allows the parents to take the children on vacation for up to 5 days. Check with the school district to see if you have something like this.:goodvibes

I'd go too. You can put in some extra time before and after your trip to help your kids make up the work and "catch up." Family vacations are memories that the kids will have forever, those 3 days of school will mean nothing to them. The school should understand even if they are strict about absence, that they changed the dates, and you already made the plans.

Let go of the guilt and start planning that magical vacation!

If you are worried about problems with the school administration I would set up a meeting with the Principal now. Explain to them that you thought the vacation would fall between the fall break and they you have already booked the vacation. And get permission now for the absence. Also I would get it in writing.

Good Luck with however you handle the situation! :)
