I recieved a phone call today letting me know that there was a part time position available at my old job. I havent worked since Jan 2002. It would be a 3 day position 830-300. My dh would be able to reaarange his hours so that we would only need child care for about 3 hours (hoping my 18 year old neice). Luckily I havent had to work, but my benefits are much better and less $ than my husband's. I just dont know. I havent left my kids and I really cant imagine it. I was planning on going back p/t when they went to school. On the puls side my dh said with me working I could get a cleaning person and maybe an extra WDW trip. Any suggestions or advice. I am really torn thanks
Tara

How old are your kids?

I left fulltime job when DS was 1yr. Worked parttime (nights & wknds) until right after he got out of Kindergarten. Then went back fulltime.

My niece finally said that she had to do something else also.....she got a position in the school system and now works when the triplets are in school.......babysitting here was like a zillion bucks for three the same age.......her husband would care for them one day a week and she worked nights at first with juveniles in a half way house......now she is days and has all snow days off and vacations too.......she likes it so far......go and give it a shot....if it doesn't work out......wait and try to get into the kids school system later on

I have to work around my Dh and I find it kind of good to get a break ( I only work 8 hours a week or so). If you miss them too much can you leave very easily?

If there is any way you can stay home until they get into school do it! It's the best thing for them!

Definately go for it! I cannot imagine not working. And working part-time for moms of young ones is perfect. Good Luck with your decision.

After the last few days I've had, I would kill to go back to work. I have a 3 year old who is not napping and whose preschool has ended for the summer. New little one coming in about 5 weeks, so there's NO WAY I can do anything. I'm just going crazy being at home and would love just a little break from my day. I have no idea how I'm going to handle things when the baby comes.

I say go for it! Sounds like a great time to get out of the house and give yourself AND your kids a break from each other. Plus, a little extra $$$$ never hurt anyone!

I stayed home for 13 years and don't regret a minute of it. I liked going on all their field trips, being room mom, being at every party and school happening. Now I work in the school system, so I'm always home when they are home. They are only small for such a short time -- I know it seems like forever now and I hated when people said that to me, but it is so true. My oldest is now shaving!! My youngest just bought a bra. I can't believe how fast the time went, I already have teens and preteens. It seems like those years flew by now.

Thats the hard decision. I dont have to go back. I love my job pediatric occupational therapist, so I know at some point I will definately go back. The extra money will be nice so many house projects that are on hold. They would be home with their father, to pay for day care wouldnt make sense.
