I didn't pack today

I knew you weren't packing! :rotfl: Good thing I came over & checked. Babysitting a 2 year old  . How did you accomplish anything else? And HUGE :thumbsup2 on the $158! We rolled our coins yesterday too (we don't save them up on purpose, just random coins) and had... $9.50. Ha! Wanna trade? :rotfl2:

Hi Amy!!!! Wanted to wish you well! Have a great time! We'll be looking forward to your TR when you get back!:cool1:

That's awful that your dd's teacher reacted that way!

I know how it feels though...my dd goes to a Montessori pre-school and periodically the teachers send home little articles and stuff for the parents to read. Well, right at the end of last year we got a photocopied article that had a picture of Mickey Mouse on it with a big line through it and the article went on to explain all the reasons why fantasy characters are so bad for children and blah, blah, blah.
I love my daughter's school and believe in their philosophy but this was just too extreme of a position for me.

I haven't told them yet that we're taking her out of school for a week because we're going to WDW yet but they'll get over it ;)

We saw this article n one of the magazines at the peditrician's office. I started reading and actually giggled throgh part of it. I showed it to the peditrician and she briefly read it and laughed out loud:rotfl: She said "I guess I shouldn't be taking my kids to Walt Disney World next week?":confused3

Fantasy like everything else = parents to teach real vs. fantasy. DS knows that the Ninja Turtles are not "real" but he still likes to play...I think it helps his imagination.

Amy, I showed DH (who is a teacher) your post and he was in disbelief. His response was, maybe she was jealous that she couldn't go:lmao: He has had kids go to WDW during the school year and he will give them assignments to do (like peytons journal) He is a math and science teacher so he will have them do a math journal. Percentage of time spent on attractions, etc or he will have hem bring back rock and soil samples to be used by the class in science class.

I am in shock about your DD's teacher! Even if she was less then thrilled did she forget she was talking to an 8 year old? She should have gritted her teeth and said "have a wonderful trip" and then came and spoken to you if she had a problem. Geesh. Hope your DD gets over the harsh comments and enjoys her trip!

:bday: to your D-Hubby!!

Kathy
Thanks I'll pass it on.:goodvibes
I am sorry her teacher was less than thrilled. I may have missed it but have you spoken with the teacher yet? I would be  if she made your DD feel guilty about the trip.
Nope haven't talked to her yet.I will take her to school tomorrow morning and talk to her then.
sooo excited for you....4 days...you lucky duck!!
 :woohoo: I am slightly excited too!!

Not officially packing yet but my pile has steadily grown since yesterday morning. The babysitting wasn't that bad-she is potty trained and played with my girls really well.I have taken care of her at the daycare, where I work, since she was six weeks old.I think I will pass on the coin trade.:goodvibes

Last year she had Peyton make up EVERYTHING they did while he was gone.:sad2: Even things not graded but that was fine.I just hope she will give me some of it before we go.She will have a 7 hour drive to work on it.Your DH sounds like a wonderful teacher.:teacher:

Yes this is my main problem with the whole situation. She doesn't have to be happy about it ,just not take it out on Rebekah.:confused3 I do have to tread lightly-the teachers here do not have to provide makeup work for unexcused abscences.Rebekah is pretty much over it I think. The kids are about to burst with excitement.

Well DHs bday get together is over and now I can concentrate on finishing getting ready.

I got alot of the outfits together for the kids today and will finish tonight after the laundry is done.I do have one thing that is bothering me.Some of the outfits I have for Rebekah look so hot.Should I put the Disney shirts(the two that come to mind actually match the other kids)on her or the strappy shirts that would be more cool? The problem is that to buy the shirts to fit her they are too big through her shoulders and the sleeves almost come to her elbows.:sad2: I am afraid she will burn up.They look so cute dressed alike but I want her to be comfortable.:confused3I also thought about putting the matching shirt on her and after some pictures and when it gets so hot putting another shirt on her.Any suggestions??

I still need to buy journals for myself and the kids.I looked at Walmart but didn't like any of them.:confused3 I want to get Peyton's hair cut also, gotta look good for all the pictures.:goodvibes

Tonight I am going to transfer each days plans and tips onto index cards(thanks kathy for that tip) and have them laminated.Anything that will make my bag lighter.

Tomorrow I need to cancel an ADR for the Princess breakfast.I wasn't sure which morning I wanted it but now I know.I also need to cancel our stitch beakfast.:sad1: We decided we don't want to pay for anything OOP.

3 days and 2 hrs until travel day!!!!! :woohoo: :cool1: :cheer2:

I'm so excited for you!!! :cool1:

I would dress your kids in the matching shirts and pack a lighter shirt as a backup. That is my plan. A lot of the shirts I made are dark colored - so our backup clothes for the backpack will be lighter in color and weight.

Have a great time!

Amy

 That's terrible about the teacher! Don't let that teacher take away your daughters' magic. Poor thing!

Great photos of your kids! My DH-10 loves softball too!:goodvibes

I rolled my change and had...drumroll please....$158.77!:woohoo:
This will be the only $$ I will be taking except for the $25 I made from consigning. I will actually bring back some of it but I don't have to pay for gas.:goodvibes

I didn't pack today but I washed clothes and cleaned and made a cake and babysat a two year old...no wonder I am tired.I have to finish some cleaning tomorrow but I hope to be packed by the time people come over for DH's bday party.

Going to catch up on my numerous pretrip reports I am subscribed to. :surfweb:

Happy b-day to your DH! Congrats on the change-WOW, you did awsome, we counted ours and only had like 80.00 I think!:thumbsup2

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I feel like I am seeing the end of the tunnel with my planning.I got alot done this weekend.

wow you are sooo lucky!!! Just 3 days left!!!  I am sooo sooo jealous.... fill us in on what all you did ;) the masses want to know what the last few days pre trip are like... so we can be sure we don't forget something :dance3:

Okay, this has gotta be quick, the kids are about to get of the bus and then I am headed to the mall.I realized that my $25 coupons to Limited Too will expire while I am gone.:scared1:

I went and talked to Rebekah's teacher today and left mad but then decided to just shrug it off.:scared: She informed me of alot of things but it comes down to this. She will be reporting the unexcused abscences to the social worker and I wil be having a call/visit from them upon our return.:sad2: I informed her that the policy says that the social worker gets involved after 5 abscences. She says they are cracking down harder this year and so on .WHATEVER.:confused3 Let her report me ,I am going by what the policy THAT I SIGNED says. She also asked who was going with me so I feel that she is going to drag Harleygirl's kids into this.Oh well I am going to disney!

On a happier note I got all the kids' clothes into ziploc bags, labeled and packed last night.:woohoo: I will finish most of the packing tonight.

Has anyone seen the Cinderella crocs?I looked at them on the Crocs website last night and they are adorable!

I really gotta go now.3 days left!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Reporting unexcused absences to a social worker and they will be paying you a visit upon your return, OMG! :scared1: How awful! I can't believe that teacher and that seems very extreme

I'm glad you're not going to let it put a cloud over your vacation! You and your family deserve to have a wonderful time!!

I'm so excited for you!!! Leaving so soon! :dance3:

Glad to hear the packing is going well!

If the social worked did come to visit I'd tell them "look here... you are going to try and punish me... a parent who just spent ___ days with my kids giving them my full attention.... give me a break!"

That's ridiculous... That teacher needs to get a grip!

Glad to see you have just 3 days left.... how exciting!

Even though this woman is a friend of the family it sounds like she has a bit of a grudge for some reason. Maybe you need to talk to the principal when you return. I wouldn't worry about it - Have a great time on your trip, 3 more days:banana: I have only been home 3 days and I am already planning next years trip:banana:

Happy Shopping!
