Going Aug 2011 -ASMo/ AKL anyone else?

I'm stumped and can't remember where to find the list of codes! What's SAB???

It's the pool at the BC/BCV/YC - Stormalong Bay - It's great especially in August when it's hot. We can spend hours there. That's one of the reasons we love BCV!

OF Course!!! duh! lol...I knew it would be something silly that I learned once but let it fall out of my head since we've never stayed there lol...thanks!

We are driving from Cambridge, ON, just hop on the 401 down to I75. It is about a 22-24 hr drive for us. This will be our 3rd drive. We have flown out of Buffalo and Detroit on 2 trips and driven 2 other trips. We don't mind the drive and drive straight through. Usually leave at night so the kids go right to sleep and dh & I share the driving, switching at every stop.

That sound like a reasonable drive for sure! If we lived anywhere near that close we'd drive it too...it'd take 3 days from Calgary At least!

Yes we do have FD.

Haven't given much though to ADR's yet. Definately want Chef Mickeys and Kona but not sure on the rest yet.

I've heard Mickey no longer walks around the restaurant and is only at the front of Chef Mickey's now....might have to see if that's true lol...

Kona interests us too.

I heard they did a trial but it did not go over well so they resumed him going around. I will have to research this closer to ADR dates. We absolutely love Kona especially for breakfast but dinner is great as well.

We haven't been to Chef Mickey in about 2 years, but for the sake of the guests, I hope it isn't true. We went there a few times for the characters. They were quite interactive and many times Goofy and Pluto spent quite a bit of time at our table. However, the food was not good. Most of our dinners from Chef Mickey was followed by snacks afterwards. And we don't like buffets, so we obviously went for the character interactions.

Now that our youngest is all about Princess, we usually go to Akershus and we've had some great and not so great Princess interactions. But the food has always been just okay. Again, we went for the characters and not the food. I will admit that I'm waiting for the day that my daughter's choice is not Princess Dining. My son used to love going to Sci Fi diner (we absolutely did not like the food - but it was his choice) and now he cannot even believe he used to like eating there. He's all about food now. :thumbsup2

For Princess dining we've also done CRT a few times and 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, Prince, Lady Tremaine and the two step sisters (which were by far the best characters we've had there - they were absolutely hilarious - as many others have posted, if you have a son, they try to fight over him and tell him that he can marry them and they even planned to keep him away from Cinderella so she doesn't steal him away :lmao: - they are in character the whole time and my son used to love it when he was smaller, but as he got older, he just blushed).

Anyways, if you're looking for a great restaurant, our favourites have always been Teppan Edo, Le Cellier and Ohana. But we also like and have gone back to Chef de France, Nine Dragons, Narcoossee's (love the lobster!), Mama Melrose (for Fantasmic Dinner Package), The Wave, Yak and Yeti and T-Rex.

We've tried others as well, but they are not on our list of "must dine in".

ahh I do hope Mickey walks around still...that's a big draw! We went to Akershus our first visit for breakfast and we enjoyed the princess interaction there. I'm thankful the girls are done with the princess dinning. they want the rare characters now lol...1900 park faire looks great to me though I don't know if I can sell dh on it.

Teppan Edo is one I want to try too. We went to Ohana last visit so probably won't do it this time around though DH loves Stitch! Nine Dragons and Le Cellier are on my list.

I wonder how many dh will let me book ha ha ha....

We will be at the Poly August 24- Sept 2!!! :cool1: Called to book last night and found out we had a 40% off PIN CODE!!!!! :woohoo: No firm plans yet except that it will be DD7's 8th bday on the 29th and she wants to eat with Minnie! So... that'll either be Chef Mickey's OR Cape May Cafe! :goodvibes

If you don't mind my asking, was that 40% off your resort-only - or off your entire package? We received the PIN for the resort-only discounts (40% off deluxe, 35% off moderate, etc.). But in 2008, our PIN discount was for our ENTIRE package. Just wondering if they are still offering discounts on entire packages, or should we take this resort-only discount and run with it?

That was 40 % off room only for the AKL portion of our stay where we don't have the ddp. Hope that helps. we didn't have a pin attached to our names at this point but we'll keep checking!

We're going to be staying at ASmo August 21st-28th! I can't wait, it seems so far away!
ds (12 when we go) and dd (8)

We're going to be there from the 25th to Sep 4th. We're spending the first 2 nights at WL with the 40% then over to Bonnett Creek in a 2 bedroom for the next 7 nights with the last night in the Tampa area on the beach before a flight home from Tampa.

Have our ADRs done, which isn't many but the ones we really wanted.

We're trying to decide if we'll do a trip in August. I just found a pin for free dinning in my junk email folder! We'd go from August 13 to 27 in order to get the FD. I would rather go a little later in the month, but the code expires.
I am just worried about the heat - There would be 5 of us in cluding our 3 and 5 year old daughters and my mom. Our last 3 trips have been in December and January.

We're from Cambridge too :)

What areas in Cambridge are you guys in.

You guys are daring driving... although if air prices dont drop we might do that also.

I am in West Galt.
This will be our 3rd trip driving. Dh and I share the driving, so neither of us minds much, plus we like the freedom of having our own vehicle when we are there.

Thats great that it works for you guys. If we had more holidays then we could drive and not rush.

We are going Aug 20 to 30. DH and DS12 are driving. DD14 and I are flying out of Buffalo. We will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas. Then Aug 30 the boys are driving to Hilton Head for 3 nights and then driving home from there. The girls are transferring to Bay Lake Towers for the 3 nights and then flying home. This is our first experience splitting up the trip this way but I am looking forward to it.
