In a surprising turn of events, after months of ADR tweaking, we've decided to kick the ADRs to the curb, added the QSDP to our package, and are going straight Quick Service! We've got breakfast covered thanks to being Business Class at CSR, so our two QS credits will go to lunch and dinner.

I'm interested in people's opinions on the best QS places to get our money's worth from the QSDP. I already have a BOG lunch reservation, and obviously the Pepper Market will come into play. I also have these in mind:
  • Sunshine Seasons
  • Flame Tree BBQ
  • Wolfgang Puck Express (bacon-wrapped meatloaf!!)
Anywhere else that would be good? Especially Epcot and HS?

Anything in WS at EP, but Tangeriene Cafe has the best value for the money. Japan has some yummy and higher priced entrees as well, but the dessert is a little lackluster. It would be a good place to exchange that dessert credit for a snack item, though.

HS is hit or miss. Starring Rolls has those huge sandwiches and you can get one of those delicious cupcakes for your dessert.

Epcot - Tangeriene Cafe, Kringla Bakery, Les Halle's Bakery, Sunshines Seasons, Yorkshire Fish and Chips

HS - take the boat to Epcot :p

We love the Yak and Yet counter service for their chicken fried rice and skinny french fries at Animal Kingdom. We usually aren't there long enough for 2 meals, but the Flame Tree BBQ always smells so good! They just opened ( in May) a new food court area in the Harambe Village. We haven't tried that yet. In Epcot, we love getting Fish and Chips in the UK, eating the baguette sandwiches at the Patisserie in France and getting a yummy dessert! America has improved too.

Good decision! We are thinking of doing the same, except one princess meal. The time it takes away from vacation to eat all your ADRs is not worth it to us, but we are people who do not go every year. So we need to maximize our time.

I love tangerine cafe and Columbia harbor house for park food. HS and AK are me for me. The monorail resorts QS are nice and have atmosphere as well. You can also try the lounges for a lighter menu or even take out. Much more relaxed. Just don't eat at the business times.

We are planning on QS only on our next trip just to have a more relaxing experience. I am anxious to hear your reviews upon your return.

Most of our last trip was QS. Earl of Sandwich, Pinocchio's, Tangerine's, Columbia House, Harrabe Market, ABC Commissary.

Honestly, you will find it very hard to come out ahead with the QS dining plan. I mean, I totally would be able to only eat QS on my trip - the choices are fabulous. BUT, just know you will probably break even . . . at best. You might want to seriously consider just dropping the QSDP.

My favorite QS dining spots are BOG - lunch, Starring Rolls, Yorkshire Fish and Chips, FlameTree and Wolfgang Puck Express. Alot of the places mentioned above are excellent, but not necessarily a good deal on the QSDP and, in fact, you could lose money eating at them.

Of course, if you just feel better having everything pre-paid for, peace of mind is worth something.

Edit to add: I found my cost analysis I recently did for the QSDP and over a span of 6 nights, ordering the most expensive thing at the pricier QS, always getting dessert, $5. each for snacks and the refillable mug, I was $35. ahead. BUT, I would be getting desserts at some places that don't really have great desserts just to get my money's worth.

A QS trip! Love it!! I agree that all of your original QS thoughts are good ones..I love Sunshine, Flame Tree, and WPE. I've never priced the QS plan, but I have done lots of research on getting value from the regular plan. f you are looking to really maximize your value, the pizzas at WPE and the ribs/chicken combo at Flame Tree are enough to share. You could save a QS credit for something else. Other great values and great food: Tangierine Cafe's shawarma platter (my absolute favorite QS meal and it is also enough food to share) Chicken/Rib combo at Cosmic Ray's (shareable), and the Salmon/Beef/Chicken combo at Japan's QS.

We got free QS dining plan in August, and honestly when it's just me and DD that's all we do anyway. We find having many ADR's is not fun for us!

On the plan, though, it was too much food! We did do breakfast and lunch at BOG, but the morning of our breakfast my stomach was off, so we shared one meal and took the pastries to go (they have boxes). For the lunch, we each got soup and a sandwich and drink (subbed soup for the dessert). We literally left half our sandwiches - it was so much food (but very very good)! I couldn't even touch the fries (they were good, but the French Onion Soup was literally some of the best I've ever had, and the roast beef sandwich was really great, but too much food for me).

We shared a lot of meals, and ended up with lots of extra credits that we used for candy the day we were checking out. Took home 17 bags of candy.

I'd say drop the plan and just pay out of pocket, unless you got it free. You end up paying for a lot of desserts that you may or may not want. It won't save you money.

We have QSFD for our trip this week with just 1 ADR at Tusker House. We love Columbia Harbour House and Pecos Bill's has a new Tex Mex menu with a fixins' bar. Can't wait to try it. Epcot is loaded with QS options. Tangerine Cafe and Yorkshire Co Fish Shoppe are both great. Animal Kingdom has the new Harambe Market with ribs and a sausage corn dog.

I'm excited just thinking about it!

MK: The new menu at Pecos Bills is very good esp with the Fixins' Bar. That Fixins Bar makes a huge difference. I was really impressed and its now a new favourite. Columbia Harbour House is a very good stand-by.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons. Tangierine Cafe.

AK: FlameTree BBQ. The new Harambe Market has interesting theming but the ribs IMO were not as good as FlameTree, the lines were not managed well and the seating had little or no shade.

DS: not as many good choices. I tried Backlot Express 2 weeks ago and had the veggie sandwich. The food was just OK. The theming of Backlot was very interesting and I wanted to see it before the Star Wars expansion.

Hooray for choosing to do an all-QS trip! We've done that for most of our trips as well and found it worked out really well for us. I'm sure you've already done the math, as we did too, so don't listen to the naysayers. Especially now that desserts, drinks or sides can easily be swapped at the majority of CS locations, you can really make the plan work for you.

A lot of great "different than burgers and nuggets" suggested already here. Definitely look up the menus to see what else you might want to try. Some of our favorites: using a snack credit to get chicken fried rice at Yak & Yeti CS, and pretty much every dessert at the Norway bakery. And make sure to seek out whatever the "Seasonal" cupcake is for your trip. Have fun!

Yeah, I've crunched some numbers and think we'll come out at least even if not ahead. Pepper Market is going to be our home food court and it's got a lot of options, some of which are kind of pricey for QS.
Regardless, knowing we have paid for all of our food prior to getting there will make it a more relaxing vacation for us. No need to worry about spending too much and needing to be frugal when it comes to eating. It'll be nice. And compared to what we would have been paying for just a handful of TS meals plus QS to fill in the gaps...we're saving SO MUCH MONEY! That makes for a more enjoyable vacation too!

We always just do QS. As fun as ADR restaurants can be we are usually on a budget but also do not like to be tied down to certain times to plan around to eat. I LOVE the turkey sandwich at Sunshine Seasons. We usually do Pecos Bill's, my hubs love the Taco salad there. Cosmic Ray's is also good since there is a pretty good variety for everyone. Starring Rolls, as mentioned, has yummy sandwiches and my go-to, Chicken Caesar salad. In DHS, the Backlot food place is decent and one of the only place I found that had self-refillable drink machines as well.

I am not a fan of QS at DHS. I might take the friendship boat over to the Boardwalk and have sandwiches at the Boardwalk bakery for at least one meal. I love Wolfgang Puck Express, the new Pecos Bill Menu with toppings bar is very Chipotlesque, the sandwiches at the Contempo Cafe are pretty big and quite tasty, Flame Tree at AK, Tangerine Cafe at EPCOT, and I'm not sure value wise, but the foodcourt at Art of Animation is fantastic!

Your three choices are good! At MK we liked Cosmic Ray's. e've eaten at Pizza Planet at DHS on every trip. We enjoy it, though it gets lots of bad reviews here.
