Hi Everyone,

We planned our next Disney vacation for May with our little girl who will just have turned 3. I am so excited because we ususally go once a year but we just bought our house so we had to skip this year. So I am especially antsy to go!! The thing is I just found out I'm pregnant and will be 7 months along on our trip. My husband and I went when I was about 3 months along with my daughter and I was tired a lot during our trip. But by the time I was 7 months I felt great. I had a very easy problem free pregnacy and only gained 13 lbs. So I'm hoping this one goes as well as the last!
I would love any advise from anyone who has gone while they were this far along. Am I nuts?

Thanks so much in advance!!

I would say go. I didn't go to WDW while pregnant but I did go to New York City (2 mo but didn't know it), Las Vegas (4 mos) and camping for 4 days at a Nascar race (8 1/2 mo). Just plan time to rest and make sure to eat well and drink a lot of water. Have fun and enjoy your daughters last trip as an "only child"princess:

Wont you miss not being able to ride the rides with your DD??

Go!!! And have a great time!!! I went last year when I was 7 months with my 2nd. And it wasn't the best of pregnancies, but we had a great time anyway. Just be smart about what to do and what not to do and you'll do great. Don't let it stop you from going with your little one though. You just go on dumbo instead of dinosaur, that's all!!

I went when I was 6 months with my second and I actually enjoyed it almost as much. When they would ride a ride that I couldn't, I would check out a gift shop or find a quiet spot in the shade and get myself a snack. I really didn't get tired or feel worn down at all. I was a pretty active pregnant woman though but you sound the same. So I would still go for it. It turned out to be one of our better trips to the world. :)

P.S. - Welcome to the DIS! :)

It wouldn't be for me, but if you have easy pregnancies......more power to you. You sound fit and active so should be a great time and you'll look so cute at 7mo's.:bounce:

Talk to your OB.

I am going to be 18 weeks and was given the go-ahead, but once you reach 30-32 weeks, they don't want you travelling because of the chance of preterm labor...especially stimulated by overexertion and dehydration. In fact, you aren't usually allowed to fly in your third trimester.

Are you from Orlando? Do you have a doctor/hospital there if something comes up? Personally, I'd say skip it and reschedule for either earlier or after the baby is a few months old.

If her daughter is only 3, they would be able to go on all of the same rides.

I did WDW 5mos pregnant and DL 7mos. I say go for it, just take it easy.

I've always been told it's safe to fly until the last month, not trimester.

Hi Everyone,

I am going to go for it!! This will be our last vacation as a family of 3 and I want my daughter to have a blast :Pinkbounc She will just have turned 3, so I will be able to go on the rides with her no problem. As for flying while pregant. Its only a 2 1/2 hr flight and its fine to fly at 7 months. There are no restrictions for pregant flyers on Delta. Some airlines suggest you not fly after 38 weeks. But I will be 31 - 32 weeks. So long as my pregnancy goes well we are going- I'm soooo excited!!!

Thanks everyone

I would still talk to your OB/GYN before you confirm your flights. Or at least purchase vacation insurance since you will not be able to predict how the end of your pregnancy will go. I've had preterm labor with one, pregnancy-induced-hypertension with my second, and an entirely uneventful pregnancy with my third.

From Ask the Experts (By Ann Linden, Certified Nurse-Midwife)
Question: My family has planned a trip to Florida when I'll be around seven months pregnant. Is it safe to fly this late in pregnancy?

Answer: While it can be perfectly safe to fly during much of your third trimester (up to 36 weeks), be sure to discuss your trip plans with your midwife or doctor before you book your flight. If you have medical or obstetric complications such as diabetes or high blood pressure, are carrying twins, have placental abnormalities or a history of blood clotting disorder, or are at risk for preterm labor, your healthcare provider will probably advise you to stay close to home throughout your pregnancy. (Well-controlled mild gestational diabetes shouldn't be a problem.)
Even if you're enjoying an uncomplicated pregnancy, it's prudent to avoid flying during your final month, when you're more likely to go into labor. Many airlines, in fact, won't let women on board who are due to deliver within seven or sometimes 30 days of the flight (they don't want you to deliver while in the air!). Be sure to carry a note from your midwife or doctor stating your expected due date to avoid disputes at the boarding gate. Each airline, however, has different rules about when and if it will allow you to fly. Check our Airline policies for pregnant travelers chart for more information. And don't forget to take into account how far along you'll be on the return flight.

Before you leave, have your healthcare provider refer you to a midwife or obstetrician at your destination in case you need medical attention during your vacation. Carry a copy of your medical history, which should include your due date, risk factors, and blood type, any medications you're currently taking, and any that you're allergic to as well. See our Emergency contact sheet for pregnant travelers for a complete list of names, phone numbers, and information you should have with you when you travel.

If you're healthy and have no obstetric problems, you and your baby should have no trouble in the pressurized cabin of a commercial airliner. The best thing to do is to make yourself as comfortable as you can during the flight. Request a seat in the middle of the plane over the wing for the smoothest ride, or a bulkhead seat for more legroom. In either case, reserve a seat on the aisle so you can get to the bathroom easily and get up to walk and stretch. Pregnant women who are immobile for long periods of time are at increased risk for developing blood clots, so be sure to walk around the cabin at least once an hour. It's also recommended to stretch and flex your feet and legs in your seat every 30 minutes. Wearing maternity support panty hose (not knee highs) helps keep the blood moving in your legs and decreases your risk for clots. Support hose help with swelling, too.

When seated, keep your seatbelt fastened under your belly and low on your hips at all times. Also, drink plenty of fluids, especially water, to stave off the dehydrating effects of dry cabin air. Caffeine acts as a diuretic, so it's best to avoid coffee, tea and many soft drinks before and during the flight. And beware of gas-producing meals or drinks before takeoff. The trapped gas from foods such as cabbage and beans expands at higher altitude, making for an uncomfortable trip.

We were in WDW 10/15-10/20 and I was almost 21 weeks pregnant at the time and I'm so glad we went. I had 24 hour a day morning sickness until 17 weeks and after that still felt pretty bad early in the morning and late at night so we seriously considered cancelling the trip (luckily we didn't book our flights until 3.5 weeks before the trip). Since our daughter is due in March, we knew this was our last trip without kids and that our trips planned for May and June will be very much geared around an infant, so we decided to go ahead with the plans and hope I would be feeling better. It was also the 1st time we'd get to do MNSSHP so we figured the plusses outweighed the minuses, and they definitely did. I only got sick twice during the trip and wasn't as tired as I thought I would be. We definitely did things at a much slower pace than we ever have, but considering you have a 3 year old you won't be moving too fast anyway. We had a great time and now my only regret is that we can't go again in December to see MVMCP, especially that I feel so much better now than I did even just a few weeks ago.

:sunny: We went when I was 7 months pregnant too. I had a great time, just couldn't do those wild rides. I think the least desirable part, besides finding all the restrooms, was going on the plane ... I forgot how narrow the aisle and between the seats are. I just laughed and enjoyed the moment.:sunny:

I took my DD (3 1/2 then) last Oct while I was 6 months pregnant (27 weeks). I wanted to share a special trip with her before she became a big sister AGAIN. I had 24 hour a day morning sickness up to 22+weeks and since my DS demanded more attention I felt she needed some special Mommy time. My DH(not a Disney fan{YET}) stayed home with my wild DS (21 months). I wasn't up for chasing him and neither was DH. I had another adult friend go with us as I wouldn't travel alone "just in case". We had a great time. We went back to the hotel every afternoon and I really needed the rest. We were only there 4 nights so I knew we wouldn't be able to see everything. We didn't do AK even though I had planned it and know DD would have loved it because I wasn't up for it and I thought DD would remember trip better if we repeated her favorites at MK instead. I've got to be honest with you it would have been really difficult for me to go at 32 weeks. In fact with this baby I had a couple of days of preterm labor at 32 weeks. I was put on bed rest for a few days and she was born full term. Can you change your dates at all? If not be prepared for slow days.

Enjoy your special trip. I am now planning a January trip for all of us-me, DH, adult friend from last year so we aren't out numbered, DD(4 1/2), calmer DS(turns 3), and DearBabyDaughter(almost 1). Can't wait to convert DH!

Oh no! You guys are making me nervous! I have an app. with my Dr. tomorrow morning so I will see what he says. We are planning this trip with two other couples, one of which has older kids, so I know I will have lots of help.
In my first pregancy I was a fitness instructor and worked out till the day I gave birth. So I feel pretty confident that physically I should be o.k. Although of course I will get insurance because there are no guarentees. also I will be sure to get an aisle seat! I wish I could go sooner, but my husband owns a business and its hard for him to get away. My daughter is obbsessed with Disney World and asks every day if we are going. I REALLY want to take her.
So I will go over it with my Dr. and keep my fingers crossed!!
Thanks everyone for all of the advise- I really appreciate it
:D

We went when I was 7 mts. with #3 -- we drove from CT (DS was almost 7 and DD#1 was 18 mts). It was wonderful. There were some rides that I could not go on but that was ok it let me rest a bit (or browse the shops!) when I got tired. I went back to our resort and went to bed early with the 18 mt old some nights while DH took DS to the pool or to watch Illuminations (we stayed at the YC). Just listen to your body and don't stretch yourself too thin. As long as you feel well and your OB gives you the ok I would definately go for it.

Have a great time!!
