Going to FW and WDW for the first time arriving on June 6th and hitting the parks on the 7th. Anybody going around then? Any words of advice for our first trip?
I've read two guide books and consulted with co-workers who have been many times. One takes the laid back approach and one the Go! Go! Go! approach. Any thoughts???? I've also gotten lots of information on the disboards. I'm addicted to reading the posts!!!!!! Help!

Welcome.

There is a ton to do! Decide ahead of time what you really MUST see and do, and then move forward. Be flexible enough in your plans that if something interesting opens up, you can jump at the chance.

If you are really into the parks, take advantage of the early entry hours, you can get a lot done while most everyone else is still sleeping.

For a first trip, I would focus more on attractions and shows than on dining experiences. Counter service offerings are usually varied enough and good enough quality that you won't miss sit-down meals. Unless you are a real 'foodie' then I would pick one or two restaurants to check out. For a child 10 and under, a character breakfast would be fun.

For all the techno-glitter that WDW offers, simple pleasures abound too. the Electrical Water pageant that goes by nightly, the peacocks at FW, the petting zoo, people watching, etc.

You didn't say how long you will be at WDW, or how old your child is, so I checked your profile and notice we have the same b-day (7/7)!

Also, which guides have you read? Keep reading these boards too, there is great info out there. Check out mousesavers.com too, for good general info and $ saving hints.

FW is wonderful, very relaxing, so enjoy!

A warm hello from Mississippi!!

Ya'll are gonna have soooo much fun at FW!! My family loves it there!! It is the most relaxing place to be, in my opinion. The boat ride to MK is really nice, too. Don't forget to go down to the beach at night and watch the fireworks and electrical water parade. So cute!!

We'll be there June 11th. Maybe we'll see you there!

We'll be there that week too. We get there on June 4th.

Hope to see you there!

My son is 12. I don't think we will be taking in any character meals. He thinks he's too cool for that. I'm not!!!! We are staying 6 nights (June 6-11 leaving the 12th) We have 5 day park hopper tickets. That is cool that we have the same birthday!

I've read the Unofficial guide and Birnbaums plus I subscribe to All Ears. The Unofficial guide makes me get all tense with the plans to follow and the ride ratings. I just want to take it all in!!!!

Thanks for the post!!!:smooth:

We will arrive at the cabins on June 5. How about tying some green ribbons outside. We can say hello to each other.

We will also be arriving on the 6th and hitting the parks on the 7th, but we will leave on the morning of the 10th. We will be with our 11 (almost 12) year old son :smooth: and 2 year old daughter :bounce:.

Your son may think he's too cool for character meals...but when in Disney...everybody's a kid! We especially like the character breakfast at the Beach Club..the Cape May Cafe..there are characters..but the food and atmosphere are especially good also. We usually drive to the Beach club...and then take in Epcot afterward...since you can enter through the International Gateway there. The dinner show at the campground is the best too..the Hoop Tee Doo Revue...it makes for a great evening followed up by a view of th electric water pagent at the marina.

krhewitt-Been there, done that with my DS. Last time we were at WDW he was 12, wanted nothing to do with the characters, This time taking DS and fiance with us both 18, we are having 2 character breakfasts and DS says he is getting a autograph book. We are leaving Friday for Ft Wilderness Campground hope to arrive Monday. A quick story if i could, when calling for breakfast PS, CM on phone asked how many and I said 4 adults, heard her mumble and I said "Excuse me, I didn't hear what you said" Response was "Oh you said 4 adults and I just said You wouldn't be when you get here" Thought that was really funny. If anyone in Campground from May 31 to June 8, sees a older suburban from Nebraska with a prowler camper, stop and say high and congrats to my DS and soon to be Daughter in law! Thanks to everyone on these boards for everything too. See you at Disney
