Hi! We are disney bound Aug. 9-13 and I have a few questions. First, we are staying at CBR (for the first time) and I just wanted to get some general info- what the rooms are like, what building is the best to stay in, ect. Second, how unbearable (if it really is) is the heat this time of the year? Remember I live in missouri so we are used to heat and humidity. Third I have a son who will be 16 months old and would like to hear from anyone who has been with a child this age. This is our fourth trip in 5 years and it can't get here fast enough:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Hi Kymberli! Welcome to the DIS!

I can't help you with the CBR questions, but can provide some insight to the 16 mos old. First and foremost, each child is different. So what might be our experience, might not be yours. The characters will fawn over your little one (as long as he is not scared of them.) If they sense that he is uncomfortable, they will shy away from him. If he is enjoying them, they will spend extra time with him. Don't hurry it along. Stop and enjoy it because this age/stage will quickly pass! If he is a napper, he might fall asleep in the stroller during the day. This is a good oppurtunity to hit some of the shows that he might not be so interested in (ie Hall of Presidents, Beauty and the Beast Stage Show...) That way he also gets some shade/air conditioning while napping. If he doesn't nap in the stroller, head back to the resort. If he gets over tired neither he nor you will enjoy yourselves. And remember, you will NOT see everything and do everything! There is always next time and his interests will certainly have changed. Character dining will be very big IF he enjoys the characters. Be sure to see Playhouse Disney at MGM. Above all, just stand back and watch. Seeing Disney thru a toddlers eyes is one of the most magical experiences! Have a wonderful time!

Haven't stayed at CBR, but do know that most buildings were refurbished last year. If it's important to you to be near Port Royale - the Food Court and main building, then request a building close to that location. Also, there is a playground on Parrot Cay, the island-area near Port Royale. Checking my Passporter, the closest buildings to this area would be Trinidad North 31, 32, 33 and Martinique 24, 25, 25. Be aware though that Trinidad North 31 is a Smoking Building.

I'll tackle your third question - it's HOT! :D That said we are going in August again this year so we survived, and even enjoyed it. The humidity is opressive (worse than the midwest but managable) so make sure to get into the air conditioning often. It is humid an hot at midnight. Drink lots of water, take advantage of the water misters and places you can get wet, and you might want to get a squeeze breeze. We felt that getting out of the heat, if only for a half an hour, refreshed us for awhile and made it managable. Have a great trip!
