What exactly are they? I have seen alot of posts and I'm still not sure what they are all about. So if anyone can give my some info that would be great!

They are similar to the badges the CMs wear with your name engraved on them.

The CM's tend to be very friendly to badge wearers and characters do call you by name.

They cost about $5 each and you can get them either at the Christmas Shop in Downtown Disney or at one of the shops on MGM. They can etch any name onto it as long as it is a real name (meaning not Mom, Goofy, or Cutie

I got mine at laughingplace.com, but paid double what they cost in the park with shipping. Just wanted to have something special for them before we go.
If you can wait until you get there, they are just $6 each. These are two new ones for the Happiest Celebration on Earth

I purchased mine and my DGD's ahead of time for our trip to WDW in Dec 04. I was also able to have Gramma put on mine.

The last time I was in that store in MGM that sells it, they didn't have the red ones so I decided to wait and order online.

I ordered the new celebration one from the Laughing Place Store online for $10.

The characters do indeed give you "special treatment".

And if you trade pins, the CM's are extra friendly.
