Many prayers go out to our friends in the UK today. Having lived through working in Manhattan on 9/11, I have experienced the anxiety and uncertainty of such a situation.

Please know we are praying for you.

On behalf of the other London members, thank you.

London is now sadly twinned with New York and Madrid.

Dear UK friends:

I hope that all of your will have all of your loved ones home safe and sound with you tonight.

I live within an hour of New York, and my sister lives in Manhattan, and was there on 9/11. It was next to impossible to reach her that day, so I know how the uncertainty is horribe. I hope the phones open up for you soon and that you all get good news. :wizard:

One hint we learned that day ... in the US, when you make a toll call from one state to another, you use a long distance phone carrier. We all have long distance carriers assigned to our homes and offices. However, by dialing a code before dialing a phone number, you are able to access a different long distance carrier. By dialing the LD code for Sprint (another carrier) that day, I was able to reach my sister. Anyone who used AT&T or Verizon that day could not get a call through to New York.

Perhaps if there is anything similar in the UK, you can try to access it to get through on the phones.

My thoughts are with all our UK DIS friends on this awful day.

I'd like to add my thoughts and prayers as well to everyone in London and the UK. You are a fantastic and strong group of people.

Thanks for your thoughts on these attrocities, it really is very much appreciated :grouphug:

I just wanted to add my prayers to the people of the UK. Bless you all and may you find comfort among friends

DH and I also want to express our sympathy on this sad day - even though we were not directly affected by the 9/11 tradegy, we both cried that day and make certain that we watch 9/11 footage from time to time to ensure that we never forget what the terrorists have done to New Yorkers and Americans alike. The British stood by us during the aftermath and you can rest assured that we will stand beside the UK during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you!!

I find it amazing that at this happen at rush hour and only about 40 people were killed.(However, it's still 40 too many.) :sad2: It shows how dedicated your police, rescue teams and citizens are for helping so many people.
