Ok I am late but here are the goals I have for 2010.

1) 2000 miles running. I barely cleared this hurdle in 2000 and think it time to push through the plateau I have been stuck at for the last few years.

2) 2000 miles cycling. This may be a little tricky as I am not looking at any major cycling events and am not planning on teaching my cycle classes in 2010.

3) In 2009 I gained about 10% body weight. Lose it and 10% extra.

4) Set PRs in all distances run in 2010. That was a 2008 goal which happened rather easily. It will be tougher this year with the #3 goal.

5) stay healthy. 2009 was a terrible year that was set up with the cycle crashes. I was never really healthy as I was battling the resulting injuries all year long.

What a great idea,:thumbsup2 we can post our goals and then come back when we reach them.

Mine is to do a 1:45 marathon.:lmao:

1. Get my foot healed (If #1 does not happen, nothing else will.......)

2. get under 200 lbs & stay there

3. PR's in 1/2 & full marathons

4. 2000 miles biking, 1200 miles running

5. Sub 10 minute 500 meter swim (work related)

6. Be a better husband & dad (last on the list, but most important)

Get my body weight below 200 pounds in the short term, and by the end of the year, below 185.

Break 2:00 in the half marathon (short term), then work on a 4:30 marathon.

By end of year, break 4:00 in the marathon. (I can't believe I actually just typed that out... now I need to live up to it!)

I like the 2,000 mile goal, I'll add that to my list.

Might as well throw mine in here too....

1) 1:45 half marathon
2) 3:50 full marathon
3) weight staying below 165, ideally to 160
4) hold Crow pose for 30 seconds
5) hold Pyramid pose without flexing knee

Flexibility in my hamstring and calves is not my strong suit, so #5 will be quite a challenge to achieve.

I was going to say that with runner's hips and hams #5 is a real treat.

You got that right Charles. Once, just once, I'd like my nose to touch my knee. :)

I'll throw mine in there too

1) Lose 20 lbs.

2) Run a 2:00 1/2, then give thought to another full someday.

3) Go on vacation alone with my DH since we have been married 20 years and have not taken a vacation alone since our honeymoon.

4) Get a personal trainer

It will be interesting to come back in a year and see if any of this happened.

Linda

I would like to be at 225 by the end of the year (from 258 Jan 1) but really if I weigh one pound less on Dec 31 than I did on Jan 1, I will consider that a successful year weight wise.

Also a 5K PR (currently 24:17)

and place top 3 at the '10 Hartford Marathon 5K clydesdale divison. That one is tough. If three ringers show up then it will not happen. Over the past 3 the averages say that I can if I can get into the 22's

Also, I have run at least a mile a day for 60 days now. I want to make a year which would put me in to November.

I'd like to:

1) Run healthy and strong all year (no nagging injuries...so far, it's not off to a good start!)

2) Go sub-2:00 for a half

3) Possibly BQ in the fall

4) Learn to enjoy races more and understand that not every race is for a PR

Maura

I'll chime in since my buddy Linda did:goodvibes

1) Reach my goal weight of 125 by Nov 18, my 40th birthday.

2) Run 2 more half marathons this year. I have DL and Marine Corps on my list. DL will get me the Coast to Coast as well.

3) PR at Marine Corps Half in October

4) Run a sub 30 minute 5k, I am getting close with my best time at 32 minutes so far.

Long term, I have decided to run the full at WDW in 2013, since it will be the 20th anniversary that year-special bling!!

I also would eventually like to become a fitness/aerobics instructor too. They have a class at our Y that you can take, just have to wait for it to be offered again.

Maybe if these are actually typed out, I'll feel more compelled to stay on it. Here's hoping...
This year I'd like to:
1) Lose 35 lbs
2) Actually take running seriously and train rather than showing up to a race and paying the price for not training the next day.
3) Run a 2:30 half (I know it's slow compared what some of y'all are doing, but it'd be amazing for me. :D

Now someone is going to have dig up this thread next year, so we can see how we all did. :) Good luck everyone.

ohh great thread!

1) break 2:10 in a half marathon. (ultimate goal is sub 2:00...but my i did my first all-running half in 2:18 this past oct, so i think 2:10 is a more realistic in a year)
2) continue another solid year of running...so in 2011 i can fully commit to training for the nyc marathon with two solid years of running and half marathons under my belt
3) stop slacking on my stretching.
4) accomplish these goals while staying injury free.

3) Run a 2:30 half (I know it's slow compared what some of y'all are doing, but it'd be amazing for me. :D

Actually, that's one of my goals, too.

1. sub 2:30 half marathon
2. sub 30 minute 5K
3. finally get under 200 lbs and stay there

These would make for an outstanding year for me.

As my yoga instructor keeps reminding me, there's no competition in yoga. I don't think there is any here either. Do your best and that's all anyone can ask.

Then again, I'd love to be able to beat my father-in-law across the line in a half. I can take him in a full, but he won his age group at Disney. ;)

Absolutely agree. Do your best.

I too would love to beat my FIL in a half. Or any race for that matter. He is 67 years young and beats me every time. We are doing DL together now apparently, and I am hoping just to keep up with him!

My exercise/fitness goals for 2010 are:

1) Continue my running streak. I'm almost halfway through my second year, and I would like to keep it going as long as possible.

2) Break 3:30 for a marathon. I ran a 3:36 last year, so it should be doable. (On the other hand, I barely broke 4:30 a couple of weeks ago - fail to train, and you cannot fake a decent marathon.)

3) Try to make weights, rowing, biking, yoga, etc additional parts of my routine.

4) I would like to break 1850 miles (running) for the year. Getting to 2000 would be fantastic, but we'll have to see how things go.

5) Run a 50-mile ultra this fall.

Here's my list:

1. Be more consistent with my training (schedule time for it instead of trying to fit it in).

2. Lose 25 pounds (have a shot at it if #1 works)

3. Complete a half in 3 hours or less.

4. Improve my nutritional aspect of training.

5. Develop a training plan (with short term goals) that will eventually lead to my long term goal of completing an Ironman in 2012 to celebrate my 50th birthday!

6. More cross-training, ab work and stretching.

Wish me luck!
Terri

Ok, I'm chiming in, even though my own goals are very different this year from what they would normally be. I'm 13 weeks pregnant right now, and am due in early August, but I'm determined to keep moving!

1) Not get frustrated with my diminished level of fitness, but to embrace what I can still do. Don't use my pregnancy as an excuse to stop moving, just because I can't run that marathon I'm signed up for in June.

2) Comfortably train for, and walk the Rock n Roll Seattle half marathon in late June (at 35 weeks pregnant). No time goal. :goodvibes

3) Get back into yoga and swimming.

4) By October 1, be successfully training for the 2011 Goofy. No time goal. :rotfl:

Alright, they're out there. And I guess I'm committed to doing another Goofy. Whoops, how did that happen? I guess the fact that I finished this year's Goofy (at 11 weeks pregnant!) with nothing more than some sore feet to show for it kind of helped... :rolleyes1 But I'm not sure why that makes me think that I can do it 5 months after having a baby! :rotfl:

Hi Guys,

Goals for the year are : -

1. Stay fit and motivated all year

2. Enjoy running the races as much as my first marathon at Disney i have chosen and enjoy planning my training.

3. Have the faith to enter for goofy 2011 and not just the Marathon before is full.

4. Pass my Advanced Childrens Licence (soccer) i coach and this would me be at the top of the tree, i have just passed my childrens licence and am on cloud nine with having passed and got good feedback from my assessors to try this. If i got this i would be in the top tier of childrens coaches in the country and turn it from a part time job/hobby into a full time career hopefully with the club i work for now who have offered to pay for the course and then escaping the world of office politics etc (ha ha)

Good luck to everyone with thier goals and achieving as many as you can.

Paul
