Today we leave San Francisco and head north to Redwood National Park. This means saying goodbye to our hotel, but at least the tent is all dry having been hanging over the bath for the past 36 hours
First though we go over the Golden Gate Bridge
Todays drive is the longest of the trip and we pass plenty of trees
There are also a few stops including the grocery shop, the first mini mart in Cloverdale didnt have much so we were directed to Rays Food Place
Then it was time to hit the road again and we saw the must have accessory for every redneck truck, a pair of balls hanging below the tow hook!!
By afternoon we were in Redwood country
One minute we were surrounded by trees
Then it was the ocean again
Time was now approaching 6pm and we were pulling into a lovely campsite in Klamath. Once there the owner met us and excitedly informed us a hump back whale and her calf were in the Klamath river and then proceeded to take us in his buggy to see them
There was an interesting sign at the edge of the campground!
The route down was a bit bumpy, but fun!
Then we saw the whales
After this I went for a swim and soon it was dinner time. The campground once again had lovely views
After a long day of driving it was soon time for bed as the sunset
