We are thinking about a Disney cruise in October but we did wdw last year and a few other small trips. As a result, $$ are limited and we are considering an Inside Cabin or at most a Cat 9 with a ocean view (Porthole?).

Is it really worth it to spend all that money for a crusie and settle for an Inside Cabin or are we better off waiting a year so we can afford something better?

I should mention we are travelling with a small child so although we do not plan on spending much time in the cabin we might end up doing so.

Anybody tell me what the Cat 9, Deck 2, Oceanviews are like?

Any advice appreciated.

yes!, it is deff worth staying in a smaller cabin. all you loose is a little floor room and a varanda (we bearly used but was upgraded to it) how long of a trip are you planing to go on? but if i was you i would do that in a second

Can't tell you about a cat 9, but we've been in a cat 8 which is the same room on an upper deck. The room is great and the porthole is large!

Personally I like a verandah, but I don't think you'll be disappointed in the Cat 9. There are plenty of spaces out on deck to enjoy. Deck 4 has comfy teak loungers with blue cushions. Decks 9 & 10 have both chairs and loungers for you to enjoy!

Being on the ship in an inside stateroom is better than being home. :) Seriously, we were in a category 8 on our first cruise thanks to a DCL upgrade, and we still enjoyed our category 10 on our next cruise. The 10 has the same floor space as the 8 and it had more storage space with the double trunk in the room, which I loved!!! I also prefer the layout of the 10 since the bed is at the end of the room and you can close the curtain to watch TV or get to the bathroom while the kids nap on the bed. In the 8 the bed is in the middle of the stateroom. We were treated just as well by our host in both cabins and we were right around the corner on deck 7, our favorite location on the ship.

We stayed in a Cat9 on Deck 1 after being upgraded from Gty11. We spent very little time in the room, except to sleep. Our 3 year old needed daily naps, and DH was hapy to nap in the cabin with her.

Don't forget about the secret veranda on Deck 7, we went out there and didn't see another sould for about 45 muinutes.

Best overall value on the ship, in my opinion. I would only caution against getting a room directly beneath Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D.

My favorite rooms are far forward; especially those that have a little extra room thanks to the curvature of the ship's bow. (2510 is one such room that I've stayed in.)

As I've said before, as long as I don't have to swim along behind the ship, I'll go. We were in the same situation. On our December cruise, we had a Cat. 7 (Navigator's Verandah) which was great. On our other three cruises we had a Cat. 11 (inside) which were also great. We finally decided that on our next cruise we're going to have a Cat. 10. These rooms are still inside, but have the split bath. After think long and hard about all the choices, we decided we enjoyed the split bath more than the verandah! Go figure...maybe it's showing our age, but that's what was more important. We don't spend much time in our room anyway, and that time is usually sleeping and getting ready.

:rotfl2: I've cruised in Cat 10 and 11 and am booked in a 12 guarantee for our next cruise, so I would be THRILLED with a Cat 9!

It is so worth it! DH and I have only had cat 11's and we had no problem with it. Now with a small child you might feel a little cramped, but nothing too bad. If you've never been on a Disney cruise then the cheaper cabin is a great way to test it out without spending to much money. And I honestly don't think we spent that much time in our cabin on our first cruise, there was just too much to see and do.

We just returned from the Wonder and had Cat 9 on Deck 2 rooms 2646 & 2648. We loved the big port hole window - the kids liked looking out into the sea and seeing where we were when we pulled into to port.

There were 6 of us so the 2 bathrooms and 2 restrooms were nice. We were also very pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms!

BUT - I would take a 12, 11 or 10 if that was the only way you could afford to go! We had a blast.

I had a Secret Porthole room last sailing and also have one booked for my October 05 trip on the MAGIC! Deck5-Cat 10 and you pay the inside price. You just never know. One could still be available. 5020 0r 5520 are good.
I love the location. I have also stayed in a Cat 11 and that was fine too and I must say you sleep very good.....It is very dark so bring a nightlite. :teeth:

We are planning on rebooking for 06 while on board and I also may have to drop to a Cat 10 or 11 inside if none of the SPR's are available. UGH! The sacrafices we make to be on the Disney ships!!! :confused3

I just got off an RCL cruise and we had a window, but were rarely in the room. It is just nice too look out the window in the morning... :sunny:

So just book what you can and go......You only live once!!! ;)

Unfortunately I can't tell you what the rooms that you're speaking of are like, but I would say that if you had to decide on taking one of those rooms or not going at all...then go with the smaller room. Like you said, you're not going to be spending that much time there. All the fun to be had mostly happens in other places on the ship. Plus you have all your ports that you won't even be on the ship for. So I would say...Go for it!! Besides, it's not all about the room....it's all in how you decide to make your trip. Someone in a small room could have just a good a time as someone with the big suite!!
