An update from ground zero:
As a New Englander who is is now living in New York, I am seeing something this morning I have never, ever seen in the last fifteen years of being a Red Sox fan in the Big Apple.
The New York fans are truly, truly worried.
On Sunday night, they simply diminished the Sox victory as a "quirk."
On Monday night, they went down the "quirk" path again, but in a more angry, pompous fashion, stating the Yankees would never, ever, ever possibly allow a 7th game. Nope, that would be impossible. Out of the question. The Sox "always" choke. Always.
And last night?
Well, we saw the behavior of the New York fans in the stadium.
And frankly, that isn't as ugly as what I'm seeing this morning. The locals are literally shocked. Furious at their team, they stunned at the fact New Englanders have forced the backs of the "mightiest franchise in American sports" to the wall.
Oh, what it is like to see the mighty fall.
And I am loving every single second of it.
