Go Go elite Traveler Plus and WDW

Is there a place by you where you can go and try one? Like a medical supply place? I went to 2 different ones and tried them out and found the one that fit me best to be the Go-Go Traveler Plus. I am a pooh sized person if that helps and am 5'4" tall. I liked the fact that when I bought it my foot had room because I was in a boot and cast at the time I was looking at them. Some of them that I tried just didn't have the room that I needed for them. On mine I can stick my foot straight out and the heel comes just to them end of the deck so I can rest it comfortably there if I needed it. That is what sealed the deal for me. Since then I have used it for school where I am using it on all sorts of terrains it is not meant for (grass, grassy hills, various steep slopes), without one bit of issue. It has never been tipsy or gave me one bit of problem in the last year and a half. If it fits you well you won't be sorry in my book.

Yes, my next step will be to go try one out. I see you are from Michigan too. Where in Michigan are you from? I'm from the Grand Rapids area.

I'm a small size person but I am 5'8" tall and have long legs. I'm sure I could get by with the regular Go Go Elite but I like the fact that Go Go Elite Plus is a little longer and therefore I'm thinking it probably has a little more leg room which would be nice since I'm planning on going with the 3 wheeler which already has a smaller leg area.

I also like that the Plus model has a bigger battery. How long have you had yours? Do you have any idea how much maintenance I should expect to have to do? For example do you know what the life of the battery should be and also the life of the wheels?

I have had mine for close to a year and a half (I got it just before Christmas 2008). I have not had to do any maintenance on it other than to tighten a screw or two. It is a pretty tough little scooter and is pretty much a sealed unit so there is no maintenance to do. I charge up the battery for a few hours every week or so to keep the batteries in good shape. So far I have not had any issues with the battery lasting as long as I needed it as long as I charged it overnight.

I could use it all day and the needle on the guage never got anywhere close to being near the red area. In fact it bearly moved at all. I use it for school at MSU every week and I am running on everything that they tell you not to, that it is not designed for, and it is handling it all very well.

I would think with the right care both the battery and wheels should last you for many years. The biggest thing is to make sure that even when you are not using the scooter to at least once every week or so charge the battery. I was told that as long as you do that the battery will last for a long time before needing to replace them. I also make sure that I always store it inside when not being used (the battery that is). I won't leave the battery in the summer or winter in a vehicle for any length of time. The extreme cold or extreme heat will kill the battery faster, just like it will with your car battery. Right now my scooter is in the back of my van, but the battery is in the house. It is just better for it in the long run.

Just one more question. How did you get it on DME? Did you use the lift or did you stick it in the storage bins with the luggage under the bus?

I placed it in the hold under the bus. The driver was very careful and made sure not to place things with it so that it wouldn't get damaged. It made it safe and sound. You won't have to worry about it. They will take good care of it under there.

Auto Stores/Sections and Bike Accessories are the best Scooter Bling! I have lights on my wheels that were made for bikes so they flash/light up as you roll. DH did have to rig them a bit to get them on but they are really fun.

I also got a small press light from the auto store that he attached to my basket for night time. It doesn't really work as a headlight so I can see better, but it makes me more visible to others.

You will find tons of stickers that you can attach on, although you don't have much space. I have several different rhinestone stickers on mine and it gets tons of comments! Also look in the sewing and scrapbooking areas for pretty things you can stick on.

I have also used bike handlebar tassels on my basket (with flowers that spin) and had bike horn for times when I really needed to be heard. However my horn was so popular with the waiters on my cruise last year that I presented them with it on our last night. I now have a bike bell (the old fashioned kind) that is waiting for DH to attach it for me.

I also LOVE my stroller cup holder, left over from when my kids were small. It was made to go over the stroller handle, so now it goes on my tiller handle and holds a drink in the cup and has hanging hooks on the back for bags.

I also have a full size PRINCESS license plate that I bought last time at WDW and will have DH attach around the back of my seat when we go again.

Seat covers are really a must if your seat isn't fabric. That vinyl gets very icky on bare legs in the summer heat. I have a friend that is an amazing seamstress and I just took the chair and fabric to her and she was able to make them with velcro so I can remove them to wash. I keep meaning to get some more fabric to get some different (maybe seasonable!) ones. My current ones are made from Grand Floridian decorative Pillows that I got from ebay. I took the pillow covers (it zipped) and she had no problems. Every seat is going to be different so one pattern won't really fit another.

For others that are looking, I love the model that I have but it is a pretty expensive one. I was very lucky to find it for resale for a great price at our local mobility shop. Mine is a Fold and Go by Rascal http://www.rascalscooters.com/index.cfm/mobility/products.detail/scooter/Fold-and-Go®-370/id/15 I love that it folds up almost flat and can be stored upright so it takes up very little room. On both of our cruises it would have fit inside the closet if we need it to. It is bigger than the one you are looking at, but I am a bigger size girl and needed something a little sturdier. This one also breaks down to manageable pieces, but even with out that I can put it in and take it out of the back of my van while fully assembled. But I don't have any back or upper body strength issues. If I did then I would have to break it down.

Talk about a bunch of creative spirits. Amazing rides! My scooter and power chair have labored along in their straight from the factory candy apple red for years. I feel a project coming on! Really, thank all of you for the inspiration.

I like the rhinestones

We were just at Joann Fabric today and saw some pretty nifty things in the scrapbooking stuff. They had rhinestone patterns, but also individual ones, some clear plastic pieces that looked like stars and some that looked like water drops and water splashes. I wanted to buy some for DD's wheelchair, but she didn't want any.
