"Go Find a Table and I'll wait in line"

Do you sit at Quick Service Tables without having your food?

This is why we hardly go to QS places. When we do, we’ll both wait to order then one of us will wait for the food and the other will get napkins, straws, etc. and start looking for a seat. It’s rarely crowded when we go so it’s not really an issue anyway.

that was what a mother who was wanting to sit at the table was telling the CM who was telling her she could not use that table in front of her young lids after she took the rope down so she could sit there. it was her right to sit at any table. was just what I was feeing from her posts
You are failing to justify what you said. Better to stop trying.

In pretty sure we’ve done it both ways - sometimes we both order, sometimes one of us will go find a table. To be honest, it never occurred to me that it might be rude since I would be eating at that table. I also feel like it is an exaggeration that I’d be there for 30 mins before having food but perhaps I’ve not paid enough attention. It is something I will consider in the future for sure.

That said, I also have zero issue with controlled seating - I’m happy to go by whatever rules they have in place. And it would make sense to have that most of time as I know I would also not want to be the one standing there with a tray of food and nowhere to eat.

I don't think anyone said they'd hold the table for 30 minutes before eating; there was a discussion about how long it took to eat the meal: 10-15 minutes or 30 minutes. Still, maybe I missed something too.

I cannot understand how eating fast food generates 5 pages of posts of in-house sniping; it's not that complicated from my POV.
Just eat like you are outside the bubble.
Use the exact same thoughts you would have at an interstate highway rest stop.

The picnickers should be aware of their surroundings and not sit in places that are teeming with guests planning to eat there. That's just common sense and gosh knows there are plenty of places to sit and eat throughout WDW.

Paying guests shouldn't send a member of their party out to scope a table 15-60 minutes before the rest of the party even gets there; cell phones are a great invention but shouldn't be abused on this level.

Share large tables when possible and don't assume you "own" the table by spreading your belongings out; every urban dweller knows the strategy whether on a subway or fast food table. It's rude no matter where you go and somebody is sure to call you out leaving you to accede silently or look sullen and loudly proclaim "your rights". It's boorish behavior no matter how it plays out. "Vant to be alone?" Grab your food and go sit in a shaded area surrounded by greenery.

Quick Service is about the speed in which your food is made and given to you. Counter Service at Disney is used interchangably often with Quick Service and describes how you order.

It doesn't imply how long it takes you to eat. And I don't know about you but QS is not confined to burger or hot dog, fries and a drink.

Table service inheritently (inherently) takes longer because you have a server, combined with any time it takes to wait to get seated, time it takes for the server to come to your table to get your drink order, then to come back and get your food order, then to come back to refill any drinks or get you something you need, then to come back and give you your tab and then to come back and take your method of payment, then to come back and bring you back your method of payment. And while you can absolutely get food at Table Service that takes longer to cook than what you would get at a QS/CS place it is not an absolute.
I am sorry, I didn't see where I said QS only served Burgers and Hot Dogs. It was an example. I will try to be more sensitive in future post so not to upset.

lol please. I've got thicker skin than that. It's a bit annoying though when people automatically assume that a quoted post means someone is upset. I don't feel like I made my post seem like I'm actually upset with you?

So I guess don't be upset that I responded to your post :flower3: and I'll try to be more sensitive in future posts so as not to upset you :P

Thanks for the grammar correction. I'm forever getting that word wrong :D

Oh, I'm not upset at all. Just don't twist what I type to make it fit your agenda. I said what I said and I stand behind it. Others have no problem doing it the way they do it and that's their prerogative. Now let me so scarf down some ice cream. I'll be back shortly to debate some more :)

I had no agenda. My oh my you're giving me too much credit lol.

My comment was neither for nor against getting a table ahead of ordering. It was simply about talking about equating the style of place to the eating pace as it was mentioned how long people are at the tables :)

Fine go scarf down the ice cream if you must. I already scarfed down my leftover tiramisu cheesecake earlier so I'm totally free for more debate (j/k on that part) :flower1:

I'm back. That was some good Cookies and Cream :)

spell check ;)
lol you know I do try vast majority of the time, even going back and editing my posts to correct. Other times I'm just lazy about it. But you know there are some words out there where for whatever reason are hard for one's mind to grasp (and you know being lazy sometimes and all). That word would be one of them ::yes:: .

When trying to eat at a quick service spot (Casey's, Woody's notably) in any of the parks, do you send someone in your party to go and find/wait for an empty table? If they are successful, they essentially will be at a table with no food while you to wait in line, order food, wait for food, and then find them. Meanwhile people that have their trays of food are left standing looking for a spot. Occasionally I used to partake in this, but this most recent trip I realized how annoying this is when I see other people do it, so we stopped. What do you all think?

On our last trip we learned pretty quickly to do just that! With 4 kids in tow holding some kind of food walking in circles, naw......after day 1 usually my wife did the sitting and "holding" it worked out much better......

It's alright. I make more typos than most as I am way far from perfect but I'm okay with that ;)

I don't grab a table until I have my food. I hate not being able to find a table once I have my food and because of that I'm not going to do that to someone else. That's just how I am. I'm also not attacking anyone here who feels it's fine to do it. I will also admit, I rarely eat at QS restaurants and much prefer to relax and dine at a TS restaurant.

If there are not dedicated seating employees who take new food receivers on a 1st come 1st served basis to their tables, then yeah, I'm splitting up and sending folks to find seats while I order food. Universal made me very happy that I could order and then have a guaranteed seat b/c they counted my party coming in and started working seating issues right away while I ordered (b/c larger parties = we had 7 - are not easy to seat), so I didn't have to have my spouse do the seating work himself. It was literally as easy as being led to my tables with food (and sometimes being helped with said food)...

It works well at Universal because they do not allow folks to sit before having food at busy QS locations.

Both Three Broomsticks and Leaky Cauldron are perpetually packed, but I've never had to stand around with a tray full of food due to no available seating. And it's because they don't allow folks to occupy tables while not eating.

Same is true at the QS locations at Disney when they actually have someone policing those entering the seating areas. Never had to wait for a table in those instances.

One of many reasons I LOVE Satu'li canteen. The staff will not let you grab a seat unless you have food. It prevents people from grabbing tables while waiting for people in line to eventually bring the food.
While I understand the idea of grabbing a table so you know you have somewhere to sit, ultimately it hinders the whole system.

It's going to depend on how busy it is for there. In Sep 2017 no CM was telling you when you could and couldn't sit. There was only a CM there to direct you to the correct area for Mobile Orders (which was great because that's what we did).

Thats too bad. The last 3 times, they had a CM near the line where you could walk into the dining area blocking it so you had to go through the line and couldn't grab a table without food. They also were pointing people to the mobile ordering line as well. Amazing, while the standby ordering line was 20 people deep, the mobile ordering had only 1-2 people waiting.

Yeah I just point it out because it's not an absolute thing. I'm sure more often than not there's someone there but if it's not really busy it makes sense to not employ the manpower when you don't truly need to.
