Go Directly to Stateroom?

When my family cruised two years ago, we used a tip from these boards that recommended going right to our stateroom (rather than following the CMs directing everyone boarding the ship into the restaurants).

Nobody else was doing it, but we stepped out of line and went directly to our stateroom - although it was still being cleaned, it was nice to drop our carryon bags before heading to lunch. At that time, nobody seemed to mind.

Anybody know if this is frowned upon, or is it still okay? We set sail on Saturday, and would sure like to dump our bags before eating and proceeding with the reservations scramble!

We have done that very thing for 3 cruises and hope to do so in Sept. Nobody has ever said a word.

Yes, you can do it, but yes, I think it's frowned upon. We did it a couple of trips ago, and our stateroom hostess was really worried. She kept emphasizing that the room wasn't clean yet, and we kept trying to explain that we didn't care about that...we just wanted to drop off the bags.

MaryPSU,
Do you mean this Saturday the 13th???
We will be there too!!
We have an entire thread entitled July 13th Magic going and we are meeting up at the sailaway party, if you are interested check out the thread!!

Stacey - Yes, this Saturday 7/13! (I'm watching your countdown, although my children also constantly remind me of "how many more days"!!)

Being more of a lurker than a chatter on these boards, I've seen the July 13th Magic thread but haven't replied. We'll look out for the T-shirts, leis, and ears/hats at the sailaway party. We have early dinner seating (ugh!) so things will be a bit rushed that first evening.

We're repeat cruisers, and are traveling with another family who are first-time cruisers. We both have DSs (8) and DDs (5). We can't wait to show our friends the ship and all it has to offer!!

Looking forward to meeting you!

Mary

Mary,
Come out of lurkdom!!! LOL

I am also a repeat cruiser, however this is my husbands first and he is REALLY looking forward to it!!

When you see those purple lei's come over and say hello!!

Hey Mary PSU (and you too Stacey!)
Glad to hear you will be joining us on the 13th.
And don't be shy, hop onto our posts also.
This will be my 18th (or 19th, I am so confused) cruise but first on DCL. We have a few first time cruisers in our "crew" as well. One by one, I get 'em hooked.

See you Saturday!

We did it on our cruise last week. We had eaten breakfast at the Kona Cafe and had no desire to eat only 4 hours later. Since we really had nothing else to do, we tried going to the room. All the rooms were wide open, but they looked ready. We looked around to find our stateroom host. When we did we asked if it was ok to go in(I wasnt too sure if we were allowed to or not) and he said yes. I would imagine if the room wasnt ready they probably wouldnt be too happy, but Id give it a shot. It may work out for you.

We were herded into Parrot Cay for the buffet with the rest of the cattle, I mean passengers...

We sat down, got a plate of food for the kids, DW stayed with them and had a bite to eat too. I took off to the room and dropped off a few bags. Nobody said a word and it worked out nicely. On my way back to Parrot Cay, I went by Palo's and made our brunch and dinner ressies. All told, I was gone 35-40 minutes.
The kids felt better now that they had full tummies, and they waited patiently for me to eat a couple of plates worth myself!
I plan to do things exactly the same this time! (10/12 Magic)
