Go Card or City Pass?? Where to stay?

I am looking at getting either the Los Angeles Go Card or the Southern California City Pass. Which one is better and why???

Also, I would like a hotel room with 2 rooms and a kitchen. Not that I want to cook but 2 DS's HATE eating out so I told them I would get a room with a kitchen so they could at least have Raumen Noodles or mac & Cheese for dinner. Where would you stay?

Whale watching, Sea World and Legoland are must do's for the boys.

We will be there 11 days since we want to do the Grand Canyon too.

Not sure what you're asking in regards to the hotel....where to stay in Los Angeles? Where to stay near Disneyland? where to stay down in San Diego near whale watching, Sea World and Lego?

I'm guessing since the LA GO card doesn't include DLR most people here would agree the S. CA City Pass is better. We are purchasing the City pass and can't wait!

I want to go to Disney and Sea World but if I purchase those tickets seperate then I can get the 7 day LA pass. Or I can get the City pass and purchase tour tickets and whale watching tickets. I am not sure what is the better deal. That is why I am asking. Since we will be there 11 days. We are a very active family. Down time is not somthing any of us enjoy. So I am looking to fill 11 days.

As far as the hotel goes. Should we just get one hotel and travel to the various parks or get diffrent hotels through out the trip? Can we get a hotel and walk to all the major theme parks?

We won't be there as long as you will be (8 days) so we are buying the City Pass. The plan is to spend 3 nights at a hotel in San Diego and visit Sea World and the Zoo. Drive to Anaheim and spend 4 nights there doing 3 days Disney and 1 day Lego Land. On our last day we will go to Universal Studio and then check in at a hotel outside the LAX airport. We have a early flight out so staying very close to the airport and returning the car the night before works best for us. It sounds like a lot of hotel hopping but since things are so far apart I think it will be okay.

What I did was make a spreadsheet of everywhere I wanted to go and the ticket prices. Then I compared them against the City Pass and the Go Card. In the end the City Pass was the better deal for what I wanted to do with my family. Good luck!

FIRST THING you'll need to do is get a map! Some of these places are 2 and 3 hours away from each other BY CAR!

With your itinerary, I'd suggest splitting your stay between San Diego and the Disneyland area. Depending on where you start your trip, you could visit Legoland on the day you move to San Diego, or on the day you move to Disneyland - it's just off the freeway in between the two.

In San Diego, you might try staying at the Residence Inn in Hotel Circle - that's convenient to the Zoo and Sea World, though it's 40 minutes or so to both the Wild Animal Park or Legoland. I believe you can get a two bedroom suite with a kitchen there.

But for Mac'n'cheese and ramen-type meals, I think all you need is a microwave and fridge, so some other type of mini-suite hotel should also fill the bill, and is probably cheaper. There's a ton of different chain hotels in Hotel Circle, so I'd think you could find something there that would work for you.

We have bought the City Pass for our visit in July, seemed like it covered everything and we will just buy tickets for Legoland when we get there.

Friday. Fly into LAX (cheaper then flying into San Diego from Houston)
Go to Santa Monica Pier - eat lunch there, play a little on the beach
Drive to San Diego staying at the Dana Inn
Sat. SeaWorld
Sun. Wild Life Animal Park and drive to DisneyLand. Staying at Grand Cal.
Mon. Disney CA
Tue. DisneyLand
Wed. Park hopping to both CA and DisneyLand
Thur. NBC Studio tour/Warner Bros Studio Tour/Kodak Th. & Walk of Frame
Fr. Universal Studios
Sat. Rodeo Dr and then fly home.

in case you were not aware legoland is closer to san diego and you may want that to be part of that leg of the trip.
