We arrive in Orlando this Saturday morning for our vacation. Let's hope Emily doesn't do the same!

Will have my fingers crossed for you & your family Dave as well as for my Dbro & his family who are checking into a beachfront condo on HHI on Saturday pixiedust: I am hoping JimMia will be posting his always informative forecast updates here soon too :teacher:

As a former Florida resident I know how unpredictable these things are so heres hoping it misses Central Florida completely. In the meantime, sending some pixie dust your way...pixiedust:

Reports have it trending further west for now. A few days ago, it had Miami right in the middle of it's sights and was predicted to be stronger. Now it is less likely to hit S. Florida with winds not as strong. Maybe she will blow out to sea. Fingers crossed for you. We could use the rain. Just not the wind.

EAST not west. Its headed EAST away from Florida. Dumb mistake.

Looks like there's a good chance of a red pepper over the entire southeastern U.S.:scared1:

Dave...

Breathe in...breathe out.

Emily is not going to be a problem. In fact, there's a good chance she'll come apart crossing the mountains of Hispaniola on Thursday.

She may cause some rain at WDW, but not much else. Probably some rip tides along the east coast and windier, rainier weather over there.

The graphic you posted is outdated. For the last 3-4 days, every time they do a computer model run, the tracks shift a little farther to the east...away from Florida. In the latest official forecast (which I think is well west of where Emily actually goes), WDW is barely "in the cone."

I posted a thread over on DVC Planning and will be watching -- but my guess at this point is Emily will be a non-event...except for the commercial hype the media loves so much.

Anyone wanting accurate info without the hype should go to www.nhc.noaa.gov (National Hurricane Center) or www.wunderground.com/tropical.

We arrive in Orlando this Saturday morning for our vacation.
Saturday will be the worst day for Florida, but the afternoon will be worse than tha AM. But honestly, if the two models I like the best prove accurate, there may be nothing more than a light breeze in Orlando on Saturday.

Keep in touch with your airline in case they decide to repo aircraft in advance of the system or re-route flights to Tampa, but I wouldn't be overly worried at this point.

We're on the same boat, or rather same airplane situation, we are flying down Saturday morning as well. We are hosting a family with their grandkids that are driving down, who haven't ever been to WDW. Right now we are exploring all of our options, including getting on a flight to Tampa, just in case. If everyone would just turn towards the SSE and blow real hard, maybe, it will just turn the other way!

We survived hurricane Frances in 2004 with 6 teenagers. Got the very last flight out of Orlando. However, what really impressed me was the Disney emergency plan. They strive to keep everyone safe and have fun at the same time.

If the current trend continues, it'll pass by off the East cost of FL, pulling the moist air with it as they always do, leaving you with more pleasant weather than if she never happened.

Since they're about as predictable as lottery numbers, worst case, you get treated to one day of seeing the incredible magic Disney can make, keeping you safe, fed and entertained while it passes through.

I wasn't really worried about the storm's effect while we're there. We usually travel in August, so we've been through several hurricanes over the years. In fact, if the parks don't close, the crowds are great on those days because the locals aren't there. Even on the occasions when the parks do close, we've still found ways of having good vacation fun. This is the first time, though, that our flight schedule has matched so closely with the storm's projected path. Glad I bought the trip insurance, this year. Hoping not to need it, none the less.

Hoping it's much ado over nothing.

We fly out Saturday morning from Philadelphia at 10 am. I have been watching more weather reports the past few days then I did the previous 6 months! Watching the airline for weather alerts and trying to decide if its worth while leaving early :confused3

Hoping she turns West! I was watching TWC and it looked like there was another tropical wave behind her! We leave in 12 days!
